  • Grizzly Bear

My first Grizzly Bear performance I rather caught by chance. While on a walk through New York neighbourhoods I stumbled into a park hosting the Jelly NYC pool parties. The place set by the waterfront with Manhattan's skyline in the back was beautiful on its own. Discovering that not only Beach House but also Grizzly Bear were about to perform for free left me with no other choice but to stay. I'd soon after witness a murmur go through the crowd, smartphones were hauled out and evidence was taken. Later via twitter I figured Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Solange had all shown up to watch the show, too.

Beach House's dreamy pop sounds were so chilled, floating on the heat waves. It was a dream come true. But yet not even perfect enough for Grizzly Bear were to follow. You think the show was only great because it was outdoors with the skyline in the background, dragonflies flying along and a soft gentle breathe blowing? Partly correct, I'd say. It was indeed a magical setting but the music aided the impression. Victoria from Beach House would join Grizzly Bear for a beautiful collaboration. And I am sure the magic conveys in clubs and overseas as well as magic tricks work in the dark and for outdoor kid's parties. It's not the magical setting but the magic itself. Go catch Grizzly Bear if you want to catch a part of the dream.

  • i saw grizzly bear in orlando, fl at the house of blues. wow. excellent live band, you couldn't actually ask for more. surreal quality - it bordered on a religious experience. ed droste has a wondrous voice and delivered one perfect note right after the other.

daniel rossen is the real deal, so glad i was able to watch him live. for our show daniel controlled the tempo, wasting no time between songs as he deftly switched between guitars and a keyboard.

chris taylor & chris bear were a pleasure to experience, this band is so beyond perfect. taylor was chatty & shared anecdotes, what a guy! bear was friendly, always courteous. overall an amazing band - unbelievable.

i cannot emphasize enough how fantastic they were live. house of blues was the perfect setting, i was right up to the stage. please do not hesitate to see them live! they are absolute professionals, they started on time & didn't waste time with tangential rants.

they played older songs very dear to long time fans but didn't neglect crowd favorites. i will do my best to see them as many times as i can.

  • i saw grizzly bear again in nashville on 09/08 at marathon music works with scott gilmore opening. gilmore was a little quiet, but very talented and i really liked his set.

grizzly bear were phenomenal as always. the only issue was the venue itself. unlike the house of blues, which was built for music, marathon music is basically a warehouse.

it just wasn't that great of a venue, but the show was great regardless! the stage was kind weird so they couldn't really unleash their light show either. but like i said, the venue didn't succeed in holding them back.

i know that they didn't play fine for now when they toured shields and i am really glad they opted to include it this time around. i'll never tire of hearing it, no matter what.

my favorite cut from painted ruins is three rings, which is kind of an almost religious experience? i can't stress enough how much grizzly bear should be seen live, their records really don't do them justice.

  • I recently saw Grizzly Bear with Spoon at the PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hands down, this was the best show I've ever seen. I was an avid listener to their albums, but not one who would typically go see a band like this live. The show was a auditory experience that will sit in my mind for a long time to come. These are some of the most talented musicians and true masters of their instruments. The energy and visual performance was very telling of the band's love of performing and audience loyalty. I would absolutely recommend seeing Grizzly Bear live.

  • A fantastic venue for them--sound really traveled well. Their stage show was also very beautiful and dynamic. Lots of responsive lights and an amazing netting backdrop. They had an amazing setlist:

    Yet Again

While You Wait for the Others

    Knife

    Three Rings

    Sleeping Ute

    Ready, Able

    Two Weeks

    Sun in Your Eyes

    Mourning Sound

    Four Cypresses

    Losing All Sense

    Aquarian

I might be missing one or two, but it was a fantastic show. They looked like they were enjoying themselves and sounded great. Can't wait to see them again.

  • Another amazing performance from one of the best bands of this generation. Perfectly tuned tapestries of harmonies abounded. They played all the hits, sadly leaving out a few of my favorites (where was cheerleader? Little brother??), but all sounded even better than their meticulously produced albums. They still kill it after all these years

  • The show was brilliant! Their stage performance has increased since their last show in Paradiso. The quality of sound, voices and instruments was superb. The playlist adventurous, and most of all, they showed their best at the very end of the show.

  • Great concert. I wasn't familiar at all with the first few songs but then the band started hitting my playlist. They were really cool. Very tight band, they really have honed their craft.I'll go and see them whenever they come through San Fran.

  • Tivolivredenburg 2017

The first half of the concert the sound was mediocre at best. Soundman must have been drunk of stoned I guess. Allmost left. Luckily the second half it grately improved so we could enjoy the band.

  • Wonderful show by Grizzly Bear at the Brixton Academy last night. Their music is an unprecedented collection of mesmeric tenderness, noise, jazz and vast soundscapes. A truly joyous secular experience.
