Críticas en vivo

  • I have loved Crystal Castles for years. I remember vividly the first time I heard them, on the John Hock show. It felt like the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up.

They were the first band to get me into electronic music. So of course I have wanted to see them live for years, but they usually come around here in the spring when I'm too poor to afford tickets. Then this past March my boyfriend surprised me with tickets. Best late Valentine's Day gift ever.

They played in this tiny little club in a city about 30 miles away from my hometown. It was such an intimate gig and they played some stuff from the first record, Alice Practice being a particular highlight. Then they launched into the songs from their more recent releases.

They did a great rendition of Plague which got the whole crowd moving like one big sentient being. The best moment of the entire night though, at least for me, was when they did Not in Love. I know some of the purists aren't fans of that song, mostly because it's essentially a pop song with that Robert Smith hook, but it's now my favorite. I can't wait to see them again, hopefully I don't have to wait another 4 years.

  • I also saw animal collective which was excellent, really enjoyed this performance, delivered on every level, crystal castles were really good, although unfortunately i don't have a huge stamina for abrasive electronic music so eventually got a little fatigued of their sound, but that was on me as their performance was spirited. The lead singer also poured a ridiculous amount of bottled waters over herself which made me wince a bit as a california resident. Before this I saw Mothers who were good, another band whose name I cannot remember for the life of me, Robert Delong who was godawful, self-absorbed with a ridiculous projection of his dumb face intent on pretending to play the bank of synths in front of him, as well as pretentious little hieroglyphics that flashed across screen along with his inane lyrics. He was awful and belonged in the edm tent and nowhere near real bands. The bummer of the night is that I was the most hyped for tv on the radio but could not see them because of a train scheduling error, im sure they were fantastic.

  • Amazing performance. The sound was great in the House of Blues and incredibly LOUD, which I loved. The crowd was so into the music. Many who started the night in the reserved balcony soon abandoned their seats to pack the writhing GA floor. But the floor wasn't the only place where dancing took place. It was a truly great and satisfying show. CC played a great mix of older and new songs. While I personally missed seeing Alice, I think the new singer is a nearly perfect replacement. The drummer gave us just one solo - thankfully brief as I'm not much on drum solos - but he was excellent! I'm not sure I ever paid attention to the drums on CC songs before. I couldn't help but take notice of his live performance.

  • I was a bit nervous going into this show, knowing that the "Edith Era" of Crystal Castles has been stirring up some controversy in the fan-base. Immediately I put all of that aside, because from start to finish this was the best show I've ever seen. Amazing energy in the crowd and onstage, incredibly well done live renditions of both old/new songs, and a simplistic yet otherworldly visual performance made this a very emotional and wild night. If you have any remote interest in Crystal Castles (or even if you don't like them at all), you'll without a doubt have an unbelievable time if you see them live.

  • Crystal Castles was awesome as always. The 1.5 hour set goes by too fast. I could dance all night! I do wish there would be more shows in Philly and even NJ because NYC is far and traffic is a headache. But the Brooklyn Steel venue was nice. Just wish a beer wasn't $11!

  • 'Twas poorly mixed, had very strange, boring, lengthy interludes where the group just played seemingly random chord combinations, the crowd was hype, and the vibes were chill, but I think the crowd was trying to make up for Crystal Castles's lack of energy.

  • Crystal castles was amazing live in santa cruz! Edith Frances energy on stage was amazing! I loved watching her flail about the stage and sing! I would definitely go see crystal castles again! It was probably one of the best shows ive attended recently.

  • The queue was moving very slowly and the concert started quite late, at 22h. I guess this is a problem with the venue Electrowerzt and not so much with the band

Crystal Castles have a powerful decent show for being an electronic band.

  • Definitely not worth its 20£. Venue sound quality was really poor and not suitable for such kind of music. Ethan Kath tried his best. I am not sure if he realised how bad the sound was. Edith Frances is not Alice Glass; unfortunately.

  • Mind-blowing. Head-spinning. Awesome-saucicity having. If you like music, you'd love this band, and they are even better live (if that's even possible). I want to see them again; like right now if that were possible.

    Stellar!
