Kim Owens, professionally known as KEM, is a R&B/soul singer, songwriter, and producer from Detroit, Michigan who has been active as a musician since 2001.
Kem's beginnings in music could be described as something of a necessity as opposed to a choice. After he graduated high school, the artist was forced to deal with homelessness, addiction, and isolation from his family at a young age. He has stated that:''My career didn't take off until I connected with my spirituality''.
His debut album 'Kemistry' was released in February 2003 and broke into the US top 100. It wasn't until the follow-up album aptly titled 'Album II' was released in May 2005 that Owens achieved commercial success. This album features an Urban Charts #20 hit in the form of single 'I Can't Stop Loving You' and a duet with the legendary Stevie Wonder on a track titled 'You Might Win'. It now holds a platinum selling certificate in the States.
His next album 'Intimacy: Album III' came five years later and peaked at #2 on the US Billboard, his highest position to date whilst 'Promise To Love' which came out in 2014 hit #3. The latter did however top the US R & B chart upon release. In 2011 Kem received two nominations at the 53rd Grammy Awards for Best R&B Male Performance and Best R&B Song for 'Why Would You Stay'.

It’s interesting and exciting to see how his songwriting has changed and evolved over the years, into some even more incredible music than the tracks he started out with. From humble beginnings and a stint of living on the streets, Kem has come an incredibly long way since leaving high school. His story is admirable, and he thanks his audience without fail for the support he’s received every time he plays a show.
Seeing him live was incredible. I wasn’t sure what to expect as the concert wasn’t album specific, and he’s released for full length studio albums, so I didn’t know how he would select his set list! He did an awesome job though, playing tracks from almost every album, as well as playing most of his successful singles.
He was great at interacting with his audience, and getting everyone to sing along with the well known tracks. He called everyone forward closer to the stage, and had us all dancing to his soulful beats, completely immersed in the entire show. It was an incredible performance. I’ll definitely be back!
Kim Owens, better known by his stage name Kem has delighting fans with his easy listening R & B for over a decade. He has won himself a loyal following for his classic approach to his live performance and charming personality onstage. Something of a smooth showman, from the opening bars of 'All You Want All You Need' Kem is ready to entertain.
The crowd is very responsive which spurs on his showmanship further and whilst they sing along he simply beams with enjoyment. His slick backing band are ready to recreate his music to the highest quality and Kem introduces them all individually to large cheers from the crowd, particularly for the bassist who is in charge of those deep undertones of 'You're On My Mind'.
An unusual cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's 'Can't Hide Love' really goes over well with the audience and sets Owens up for a brilliant finale of 'I Can't Stop Loving You' which receives the biggest reaction so far. It is particularly pleasing during a time where R & B is being further manipulated to sound similar to pop to see a performer doing it in its classic form.
He put a very good show from the time.he got on the stage to time he let . I definitely see him again! He signed all of the songs he even did it contribute to Prince which I thought was very nice he even did it contribute to the soldiers he even bless God for all of his blessings and he even talked to all of the fans you didn't put the thing is I thought that was very nice and he just put on a very good show has a very nice voice I would definitely definitely definitely go see him again that was my first time seeing him and he put on an awesome show
Once again can't get enough of this man. I don't care where he is in California I'm there and Las Vegas. I never miss a concert. Seeing him on Being,even inspired me more.I believe when he says everything is going to be alright. I drove 500 miles to see him and Maze and Joe, after I seen him last year In Oakland with Charlie Wilson, and at The Jazz Festival after that. I pray that he continue his travels, because we need good music like this today. Sincerely Sharon Brown
Kem was amazing. I love all of Kem’s music. This was my 3rd time seeing him. The concert was my Valentine’s gift. I try to see him every time he’s in our area. I’m so glad that he was the main performer, and I hope he will be the next time as well. He always includes God in his performances. You can tell that he has so much love for performing. He puts everything into his show I can’t wait until the next time he’s here. The concert was truly outstanding!
I am a true fan of Kem he is always on my dial. I have been to every concert of his in a one state radius. I didnt get enough of him last night but very interactive with the audience and allow his back up singers to sing. In all i will never not enjoy him as a artist just would have love much more of him till next time love you and keep being you man.
I had the absolute best time with Kem last night!!!!!! I held his hand took selfies and he even song to me as I filmed him!
He nevvvvvvver disappoint every single time I see him and most importantly he gives God Praise!!!!!!!

KEM gave an Awsome performance. He is such a talented artist..... His music, his lyrics just an Awsome performer..... His music is heartfelt especially if your in love with that special person in your life...... A concert not to be missed!!!!!!! Anytime KEM is in town my partner and I will be there to see him perform......
This was my first time seeing Kem live and he did not disappoint. I love all three artist and would pay to see them all again. I've seen Joe a few times and I absolutely love him and had followed him for years but then Kem can on the scene and I feel in love work his smooth voice.
This was my first concert and it was amazingly spectacular! He sounds even better in person. Wish I could have met him face to face. Will never forget the Kem experience. Would definitely go seehim again if he is ever back in Dayton or nearby.
