  Orphaned Land are a very important band. In my mind, there’s no two ways about it, the world is quite simply a better, more inclusive and more exciting place to have them playing, writing and recording in it and while that may be ridiculously hyperbolic, I think the statement still stands. It would almost be enough to just have an Israeli progressive metal band combining doom and death metal influences with forms of Middle Eastern and oriental folk music performing on a worldwide scale. However, two things make them a truly vital and unmissable band. The first is their message of unity between the three Abrahamic faiths, something that could make the world a vastly better place in and of itself. The second, however, is their absolutely outrageous live shows. They’re a prog metal band a degree of instrumental proficiency is pretty much a given but their esoteric influences colour their riffing and soloing with a much brighter palette than what we’re used to from even the best bands of their genre. With twenty three years of experience and no signs of slowing up yet, they’re playing their biggest ever headline shows to date on this side of the pond in 2015 and one would be foolish to miss one of the very few bands that could make the world a better place do what they do best. Highly recommended.

• One of the best shows I've seen. All of the performers were excellent and the fact that the show was acoustic made it even better. If you have the chance, go and see the show.
