Morbid Angel is an American death metal band based in Tampa, Florida which currently consists of Trey Azagthoth, Tim Yeung, David Vincent and Destructhor.
Morbid Angel was formed in 1984 in Tampa, Florida by Trey Azagthoth who is the band's only original founding member still working today. Although David Vincent did join in 1986 before the band had released their first album so many fans consider him a founder of sorts. They have a mammoth fourteen past members, and this explains their varying sounds from album to album.
Their music was the epitome of cult, with a loyal fan base who adored their death metal sound that often centred around themes of Satan, death, occultism and anti-christianity. They didn't chart on the US billboards upon release yet albums such as 'Covenant' and 'Dominant' have now sold over 100,000 copies each. After the release of 'Blessed Are The Sick' the band began to write a lot of their lyrics around the ancient Sumerian Gods, this was mainly influenced by Simon Necronomicon who had a fascination with Sumerian mythology and ancient Rome.
The band has toured their discography tirelessly during their career despite having to deal with an ever changing line up. They have made appearances at most major metal festivals on the circuit and in 2011 they headlined the Scion Rock Fest in Pomona, California. Their 2011 album 'Illud Divinum Insanus' remains their most internationally successful release, appearing on numerous European album charts along with a personal high for the band of #3 on the US Heatseekers chart.
Mehr erfahrenUndisputed kings of death metal Morbid Angel have been thrashing out the hard stuff since the release of their eponymous debut, ‘Altars Of Madness’ in 1989, and they don’t show any sign of hanging up their guitars anytime soon. The band of pioneering metallers are led by founder and one of the only remaining original members, Trey Azagthoth- who provides backing screams as well as guitar and synth for bassist David Vincent’s ear-destroying lead vocals. This, combined with their technically impressive, hard-hitting drumming and satanic lyrics, makes for a truly hardcore listening experience, which is just as easily felt at their live shows. I caught Morbid Angel last November at The Agora, Cleaveland, on the 20th anniversary tour of their epically brutal third album, ‘Covenant’, and the entire show was a heart-pounding, throat-screaming, ear-crushing night of glory from start to finish. The first half of the show was the ‘Covenant’ album in it’s entirety, which still sounds awesome live and which incited many a mosh-pit and even the odd wall of death. After the brutality of ‘Covenant’, the band kept the pace with heavy hits such as ‘Maze of Torment’, and the incredibly thrashy, dominating show-closer, ‘Fall From Grace’. Death metal is still alive and well in Morbid Angel.
It was a really cold Saturday night, and unfortunately, not a huge audience. I arrived late and missed Blood Incantation, which I was pretty disappointed about, especially because I thought the order was reversed. Morbid Angel is still going strong and brought it hard, as would be expected.
Spectacular as always, they continue to bring true death metal back to colorado. Been viewing morbid's shows live for years now and they never disappoint. Thanks again morbid for another fantastic show!

Fucking brutal. They are back, the single for the new album is awesome. Steve Tucker is the man. The drummer rules. Trey is still a god. Well worth a 2 hour drive in a rainstorm both ways.
Very grateful and I really hope that they come often if they could do more than one hour of a showit be even more cooler n great.... I would definitely come back and go for a VIP
