Biografie

  • The Vamps (formed in 2012) are a British pop boyband consisting of Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans.

The Vamps are a fine example of how social media has brought like-minded individuals together and propelled acts to national and international stardom. Formed of Bradley William Simpson on lead vocals and guitar, James McVey on lead guitar and vocals, Connor Ball on bass guitar and vocals and Tristan Evan on drums and vocals.

Lead guitarist James McVey in 2011 was being managed by Prestige Management, however soon decided he’d like to form a band and soon found Brad Simpson through YouTube and began writing songs. The year after in 2012 the pair met Tristan Evans via Facebook and subsequently Connor Ball through a mutual friend. The band started uploading covers to their YouTube channel and amassed a young and enthusiastic fan base, and signed to Mercury Records at the tail end of 2012.

The Vamps secured support slots for on McFly’s Memory Lane Tour in April and May 2013 and for Selena Gomez at London, UK’s Hammersmith Apollo, which introduced the band to a much wider audience. The Vamps also supported Taylor Swift on the London leg of her 2014 tour for her album “Red”.

The band’s first original song entitled “Wildheart”, uploaded onto their Youtube account on the 22 July 2013 received well over 46,000 views within the first two days, and their follow-up “Can We Dance”, on the 6 August 2013, received over a million within two weeks. “Can We Dance” was later released on 29 September 2013, debuting at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart.

In April 2014 The Vamps released their long-awaited debut album “Meet The Vamps” to an understandable mass of fan-girl appreciation. The album charted at No. 2 in the UK Albums Chart, pipped to the top spot by Paolo Nutini’s “Caustic Love”.

  • The Vamps

I found out about The Vamps a few months ago, in fact I believe last December (as of July 27th currently), and ever since then I have been in love with their music and the boys themselves.

I used to be a total One Direction fan until I found The Vamps and let me just tell you: these guys are natural performers. They opened up for Austin Mahone and played "Last Night," "Wild Heart," "Trumpets" (a cover), "Can We Dance," "Somebody To You" (EP being released in a few weeks in the US), and "Oh Cecelia." They also showed the "Somebody To You" music video featuring Demi Lovato and Laura Marano.

Overall they were incredible, getting the crowd really excited and joking around with their bandmates (Brad Simpson as lead singer and guitarist, Tristan Evans on drums and backup vocals, James McVey as guitar and backup vocals, and Connor Ball as bassist and backup vocals), announcing to their crowd how amazing they are and loud compared to previous shows. They also told us lyrics to some songs they were going to sing so we could sing along to their music.

Speaking of their music, they had their first album released a month ago, including easily danceable songs like "Can We Dance" and "Wild Heart." I was pumping my fists and dancing throughout their whole performance because they were great at getting everyone excited. I was a little disappointed though because not many people actually knew who these guys were.

During the concert, Brad was running around the stage and dancing while changing up some notes on songs like in "Oh Cecelia" at the end he sang, "Oh CECELIAAAAA!" (screaming the note) and went insane, nodding his head and moving his fists around it was absolutely hilarious and fantastic at the same time to see him get so excited. He also seemed really happy whenever he told us to point to the band and say "Hey, YOU!" at certain parts in the song "Somebody To You." When we did, he said, "Whoa, that's awesome." He also got pretty sweaty while dancing and singing (who wouldn't? He was in Texas!), and he had a towel available to wipe down his face and arms. After doing so, he said, "Sorry guys, I'm pretty sweaty right now...who wants this towel?!" The crowd cheered him on and Brad continued, "Wow, that's pretty gross, alright!" Then proceeded to throw it into the air, being caught by a fan.

Towards the end of The Vamps' concert, Brad told the crowed to put their hands in the air, saying it like, "Now we want you all to put your hands in the air! There you go! Phew, we can smell all the BO from up here! Haha, it doesn't matter, keep them up there!" That should show you how energetic and optimistic the band was for the entire concert, not to mention them messing with Connor and Brad going up to the drum sets where Tristan was and dancing all over them!

I couldn't believe how little fans The Vamps had, some girls I talked to said "We have no idea who they are" when I told them I was here to see The Vamps. The band was ecstatic before and after the show when fans would come up to them for pictures, and they took the time to talk to each of them. They truly deserve more fans than they have (none of the boys have at least 1 million followers/subs!). Their music has a wide variety from total pop to acoustic-indie to Indie Rock. I would recommend anyone goes to see The Vamps whenever they come to their town, even if it's just an opening act because their performance was certainly not a forgettable one.

  • It was the best day ever! I went with my younger sister around 11am to the stadium and we met with some of her internet friends. We were so close to the door of our row, it was almost a dream come true! We talked a lot, listened music, shared some stories about our previous concerts. About 2 or 2.30 pm we went to eat at Burger King that it was crossing the street and other girls that we met there stayed taking care of our place. When we were returning to the line, I saw that the guards were putting some fences around the principal door, so I said we should stay there for a while and I was right! A few minutes later The Vamps arrived at the stadium and I saw them! They were just in front of my eyes! Everyone were calmed at first, but when they went out of the car the fans started to scream and it was insane! They went out one by one with their guard, and when it was the turn of James, a girl ran to him and hugged him! I shocked at that time, really, James is my crush and she just had hugged him! When they all were inside of the stadium the fans started to leave the principal door, but the guards didn't remove the fences, so I thought that The Tide were coming, and once again I was right! My sister and I went to the front of the fence, and when the car arrived, they went out one by one again (Austin & Nate touched my sister's hand!!!) When they were inside, my sister started to cry so hard, and I was literally shaking, then we all went back to our places on the line.

Some time later, when we were on our row, there were a lot of fans making another line, we went to ask and The Tide were doing an autographs signing. In that moment I didn't know them so I let my sister and her friend there waiting and I went to my place.

The night was coming slowly and we were getting so nervous...

It was around 7pm and the guards began to stand up to everyone. We were so excited... We made a huge group of girls there, and we started to sing every song from The Vamps and some other ones of others artists, we shouted to other fans, and we shouted from the bottom of our lungs because we were very excited and the guards wouldn't let us get inside yet.

We were there waiting about an hour and a half and finally they let us get in!

We were in f*cking front row of the floor, it wasn't next to the stage, if not it was in the back of the floor. When The Tide go on stage we started to scream and we didn't know the songs at first, but a few minutes later we were jumping and singing hahahahha

Around a hour later it was the turn of The Vamps! We cried a lot, we screamt a lot, we laughed a lot, it was so unreal.

It was one of my favourite concerts, it's the #1 at the time!

  • The Vamps were amazing to see live. I had been to the Fillmore Silver Springs before and was not suprised that the venue staff would be just as caring as they were.

The Vamps' opening acts, The Tide and Before You Exit, were both amazing to watch perform. The Tide are a new up and coming band and they definitlely got the whole crowd pumped up for the acts to come. Before You Exit were so much fun to watch. Both acts were great and really took advantage of the whole stage and got the whole crowd jumping.

As for the Vamps, they were beyond amazing. I've been to quite a few concerts and The Vamps has got to be my favorite. I stood on Connor Ball's (bassist) side but him and James were constantly switching sides and running around. Brad Simpson was so wonderful, his voice is so unique and the kind of voice you have to hear in person to give it justice. He danced the whole time and jumped into the crowd. The whole band are such great performers. Tristans drum solo helped give everyone a break from jumping to a song they recognized and gave us all a moment to appreciate just how talented of a drummer he truly is. Connor sang the famous MCR song "Teenagers" and James sang the Vamps "Move My Way". No band member was left out, each of them had their chance to shine and be heard.

I can not stress how amazing they are. They sang pop and pop punk covers that appealed to a wide variety of listeners and were popular as well as their signiture songs. The whole crowd was jumping and there was a beautiful moment when you realize that eveyone in the room, despite their differences, was all together enjoying a wonderful moment.

A special moment for me was being able to catch the attention of Connor Ball and have Tristans drumstick thrown right at me.

So if you're debating whether or not to pay to see the Vamps, your money will get used wisely and there's not another band quit like the Vamps.

  • This is the third time i have seen The Vamps live in manchester and they never seize to amaze me, They just get better and better each year, their whole stage persona is just incredible. The show they put on and the relationship in which they have with their fans is so genuine and the emotion they put into their songs is so moving when your their hearing it first hand. You can tell they are doing what they love and something which they have worked so hard for. Brad Simpson's talent vocal skills, sense of humour and his ability to communicate with the fans on such a personal level is something most headline acts struggle massively with. James McVey's talent, vocal skills and the emotion in which he puts into the music moves his many fans. Tristan Evan's pure pure talent is incredible, his drum solo is something to leave everyone in pure awe, being there in the room witnessing it first hand makes you feel the passion and talent something which listening to their music on a CD is maybe something you don't understand. Connor Ball's ability to capture the crowd and adds to the atmosphere of the whole excitement, making the crowd want to jump around and completely just let loose. Overall just an incredible act to witness live and i have never ever left one of their concerts with out feeling like i was on cloud nine and just feeling amazed and in awe of their whole act message and their relationship with the fans.

  • WOW! When i first found out about the arena tour i was at the 2014 'Meet The Vamps' Tour in Newcastle. I got rather excited when i found out i could get a ticket for just £9.50, i knew then that yes the seats wouldn't be like other concerts I've been to where i could literally reach my hand out and touch the person on stage, but i was ecstatic.

When my mum brought me the order form and i saw that we were in block E i wasnt sure how to feel knowing we were at the very back of the floor seating, but again i got over it.

When we arrived at the venue my fangirling level escalated at the Merch lining the walls and the dinky doughnuts but i was still yet to see how far away i was from the stage. And i can honestly say i nearly cried at the sight of exactly how far away we were.

I could admit that i was mostly upset at the fact that my phone couldnt even get a decent zoom on the huge screens, but infact it made the experience even better because i could actually enjoy it knowing that my mum had her camera and i had a good excuse as to why i didnt have any good pictures.

And once the acts started flooding on and off stage i didnt have a single care in the world besides seeing my idols having the time of their lives on stage.

Tristan's Drum solo was by far the most amazing thing to watch the lights the music and general atmosphere were simply electric.

  • Had such an AMAZING time seeing The Vamps in Birmingham on the 25th of March.

Brad, James, Tristan and Connor put on one of the BEST shows EVER!

Connor did really well even with his knee, although he struggled with his usually movements, he brushed it to one side and put on a fantastic show.‬

My Favourite part was definitely seeing ‪#‎Jonnor‬ perform my ALL TIME FAVOURITE the Vamps song: Written Off.

The support acts: HomeTown, Conor Maynard, and The Tide were also awesome.

The boys also had a few surprises up their sleeves when they invited New Hope Club to the stage to see Oh Cecelia with them and then OMI come on stage to perform the boys new song: I Found A Girl.

But the boys weren't done there; there was more surprises when Brad performed a solo version of a song off the THIRD album which they are currently working on, called Stay.

Fabulous night, the boys had so much energy from coming on with Risk It All, to returning for the encore and ending the show with Wake Up.

Definitely a great experience, and definitely got moneys worth, with the guys £10 tickets.

    Thanks lads for EVERYTHING!

  • this was the best concert I've ever been to. we got there around 12 pm and the row was pretty long already. the doors opened at 6:30 pm and that was pretty chaotic. they splitted us in groups from 100 (I think) persons. I was in the first group, when the door opened everyone started pushing each other (that's normal though). when we were in, our tickets had to get scanned. after they scanned the tickets everyone started running because they wanted to be on the front row. some security quards told us to stop running and walk. when we were in the hall, the stage was right in the middle and there were curtains at both sides. we were at front row but in front of these curtains. the boxes were on the corners of the stage so we couldn't see tristan and brad (when he was playing piano). that was really ashame. if those boxes were on the ground (what they really should've done since there was a lot of space left) it should be even more amazing than it already was.

  • I think it was this specific concert venue, but the mics were too quiet compared to the rest of the instruments.

Also, my mom is a huge Rush fan. She and I were really impressed with the drumming and drum solos. I think The Vamps understood the drumming was really good as they gave the drummer as much stage playing as possible.

Overall, the visuals were really good and if you’re a fan of The Vamps, I really recommend it.

My mom hardly knew any of the songs and was ready to leave early to get enough sleep before our flight the next day, but the drumming and performance kept her captivated and she appreciated staying for the whole concert.

I of course was a fan and wanted to stay anyways. I was really staying to see New Hope Club But I was actually really impressed with The Vamps’ performance even more than I thought I’d be.

Basically, if you’re a fan of The Vamps or New Hope Club, I suggest you go. It was really good. :)

  • When i first heard that The Vamps were coming to my country i got so excited, because i had liked them for like a year and always wanted to go see them. I got a bit disappointed when none of my friends wanted to see them but i did´t want that to stop me from being my favourite band so i bought a ticket anyways.

And let´s just say it was worth any penny!! And they weren´t even the headliners, they were just a support band.

The show was amazing. You could literally feel their energy and they jumped around stage and just made everyone smile, jump and sing along.

And they sound AMAZING live too!

They just make you happy and i promise you, that you will not get dissapointed if you buy a ticket to see The Vamps.

Even if you aren´t THAT big of a fan, you will be though after the concert :).

  • Years ago, these guys were FANTASTIC in concert. Lively, upbeat and very enjoyable. This gig not so much.

The "backbone" of their music is the punchy, driving rhythms that makes their music entertaining and danceable. That was missing.

Guys, get back to what you are good at.

Best bits - Wild Heart, Wake

Not so Good - Missing you, Somebody to You (why was this acoustic?? - FAIL!)

Missing - Shades On, Cecila (both good examples of the songs with driving rhythms that I mentioned above).

Only about 3/4 full and having to give away tickets to get people to go is not a good sign guys....

Third time I have seen The Vamps in concert... wondering if it will be the last time I see them in concert... especially at The O2.

    Mike, SW19.
