British R&B trio, Loose Ends, became one of the biggest acts in the urban dance scene, finding a string of hits throughout the 1980s, having formed at the start of the decade in London, UK.
Loose Ends is a group which has existed since the early 80's. A successful British R&B band formed in 1980, signed to Virgin Records in 1981. Loose Ends had several urban contemporary hits with tracks such as 'Hanging on a string' reaching no.1 in the U.S charts and no.13 in the U.K charts, also ìSlow Downî reaching no.27 in the U.K charts and no.1 in the U.S charts. Loose Ends are the first British R&B band to have a no.1 gold selling Album in the U.S and going on to sell millions. The negative narrative that the group had broken up is untrue as they continued to make hits from 1988 onwards. Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol left the group so Carl McIntosh went on to produce the 'Look How Long' album released in 1990, with the hit single 'Don't be a fool' reaching no.13 in the U.K charts and no.10 in the U.S charts.
The last album by Loose Ends was called 'Look How Long' which was produced and created by Carl McIntosh which included UK's top vocalists Laurne· Wilkerson, Linda Carriere, Christine Levin, Sunay Suleyman. Carl McIntosh a musician, singer, songwriter & producer can also be heard on songs by Caron Wheeler, Ruth Joy, 5-Star, Phylis Hyman, Díangello, Angie Stone, Leon Ware to name a few.
There term 'experience' is exactly what it says, an experience. Carl's work can be heard throughout the early releases pre, 1980 right up to now. Loose Ends, now signed to the Digital Jukebox Records, Sony Music Distribution are currently in the studio writing new songs for the new singles and album to follow with his band members Linda Carriere, Christine Levin. Mehr erfahrenI have been once before to see Loose Ends at the Indigo at the O2 and I have to say I enjoyed it more then. Carl the original singer still has that great voice and he worked he's socks off under extreme heat and the sound of the music constantly drowning him out. I felt sorry for him.
I wasn't keen on the venue ....299. The website said 7pm. They didn't let us in till hone 7 30pm. The bar was slow then the group didn't come on till 9.30pm!!!!!!! I was a bit tired by then!
Carl the lead and original singer had changed the performance up a bit and I don't think it was for the better as it lost that "Loose Ends" sound.
That's what I was there for as with the music it's so unique.
For me it was like a band playing Loose Ends songs. There was a band (who were great!) 2 back singers and a woman singer (again, good singers!) But it just sounded too loud, looked too messy. The technical blokes in the wings just didn't seem to get the back Alice right of music and singer.
All you need is Carl, guitar, a woman singer and keyboard player like the original group and he's lovely voice and to sing the songs exactly like the records/cos. Simplicity.
Stay a little while child (my favourite) was good.
Loose Ends are a British R&B group that possess a sound that sounds as though it has transcended across many years. Fronted by the soulful vocals of Carl McIntosh and vocalist Jane Eugene, they carry these songs with much prowess and conviction throughout the whole set. When they perform, it is evident that they have had a huge career up until this point. One of the key features of this band that I have to draw attention to is the guitar work of McIntosh. He is so under rated with what he plays which is a slew of riffs on his Fender Stratocaster in such a new jack swing kind of style.
“Hanging on a String” has this packed out gathering dancing from the start to finish, putting them in the right frame of mind for the rest of the set with it’s infectious chorus and great musicality, taking this audience on a journey through many mediums of soul and R&B this evening.
I've seen Loose Ends several times live; at the Jazz Cafe, Magic Summer Live and Bedford. Whilst its a shame that the original line up don't perform together - Carl McIntosh puts on a gem of a show for fans of this iconic and ground-breaking soul band. The variety of songs covered is superb including all the 80s hits with some banging later cuts that demonstrates how their well crafted songwriting, solid bass lines and addictive melodies come together to please the crowd. The female singers are vocally very strong and the band are superb. A great gig and at times where they supporting other acts - they should have headlined!
Well first of all Loose Ends did not perform! That in its self was very disappointing. In addition a person representing the venue gave me and my 6 guests some cock and bulls**t story that the event was named Loose Ends! I really really didn't appreciate what happened last evening! I expect an response to this survey with a proper explanation. Now to quote a line from one of my favorite movies "We can handle this with some class or we can get into some gangster shit!" Hahaha LOL no threat intended it just sounded appropriate for this situation.
Poor organisation. Very disappointing! A very long queue and eventually got admitted at 12.15am. And then was told the live performance would be after 2am. I didn't have the stamina to hang around for another 2 hours and left. If accurate live show information had been on the advertising/ticket I would have arrived much later. C'est la vie!
Loose Ends always puts on a fabulous concert performance that you go away wanting to here them time after time after time. I am truly a Loose Ends fan and would go just about any where in northern california to here them perform. Thank You Frank Mitchell
The Show was fantastic! They brought a lot of energy and played several of their hits. Jane Eugene was the only original member performing, but her band was awesome! Wish I could see the original members together, that would be a bucket list show.
GREAT SHOW! Love Loose Ends background singers were awesome! Just wish they would of sang the Real Chickaboo entirely! Hits after hits and they still sound the same. Band was excellent.I wish they toured more on the WESTCOAST
Outstanding concert. Had a wonderful time The sound system and lighting system were great The concert hall was great. The food and parking was ok. Loose ends, Kindred family and Phillips did great
The R&B group Loose Ends are one of the best entertaining groups from another country.I would suggest that people who have never heard them do so if they ever get the chance to.
