  The New York band’s blend of high energy beats, angry vocals and playful lyrics have ensured unusual longevity and critical acclaim.

  In 2009 The Beastie Boys released digitally remastered editions of ‘Paul’s Boutique’, ‘Check Your Head’ and ‘Hello Nasty’. And they were soon touring again, attracting massive audiences. In Manchester, Tennessee, The Beastie Boys took to the stage before an excitable crowd. The hip-hop artists drew in a diverse audience. Many had witness the New Yorkers’ explosion onto the scene during the 1980s, while many were too young to remember the classics ‘Fight for Your Right’ and ‘No Sleep till Brooklyn.’

  The band’s broad appeal needs little explaining. The rappers burst onto the stage amid roars and whoops from the expectant audience. And the baying crowd were not disappointed. Mike D’s distinctive chant was as rousing and satisfying as ever as he guided the crowd through the band’s repertoire of hits. A particular highlight was ‘No Sleep till Brooklyn.’ The audience went wild under the stage’s flashing lights.

  The Beastie Boys played one impressive gig. Even after the encore concluded with a raucous rendition of ‘Sabotage’ the audience seemed hungry for yet more.

• not a review but my husband and I (boyfriend at the time) saw the Beastie Boys (Fishbone, warm up) in Austin Tx. Pretty sure it was Feb. 1987. Its not listed. this was one fun night and truly sad that we never saw them again, live. We are true fans and love all their music, listen to all their records, all the time. Therefore, are children are fans too! Now ages 25,23 and 19.
