Turin Brakes stand as a testament to the fact that, even in this day and age, two men with a guitar each can find their way to major success. Since releasing their first album, The Optimist LP, Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian have sold a seven figure sum of records worldwide, and enjoyed a number five chart hit here in the UK with Painkiller (Summer Rain) back in 2003. If anything, it’s a surprise that they haven’t enjoyed even more success than that in the UK, especially since the folk sound they’ve been peddling for the past decade or so seems to have spiked in popularity in recent years. They do continue to enjoy the adulation of a sizeable cult fanbase though, a fanbase that keeps them touring at a prodigious rate. Now expanded to a four-piece, both live and on stage, the band are on the live form of their lives, with new material taking them into more traditional indie rock territory. In particular, they made a serious impression at this year’s SXSW industry festival in Austin, Texas, where they played a host of shows across the city; with a new record, We Were Here, lined up for September 30th, the next step is to embark upon a UK tour throughout October and November, which will take in some of the usual suspects - Manchester and Birmingham - as well as some of the less visited towns, musically speaking, like Chester and Wakefield.
Another fine performance from a band who are at the top of their game. Always comfortable with their fans, Turin Brakes thrive in the smaller, more intimate venues. There was one heckler at this gig, but aside from the verbal slap-down he got from another fan, the band coped admirably, professionally, and with good humour. Gale's guitar-playing was even more impressive than usual, and Olly's beautiful voice could never disappoint. The crowd did not want to let them go. No Turin Brakes gig ever seems long enough, to their legion of fans :)
Saw Turin Brakes at both Falmouth Princess Pavilions and Plymouth Hub.Turin Brakes just get better with maturity.Playing new material and early classics the crowd totally blown away, brilliant excellent mind blowing can't wait to see them again.just a foot note the support act Joe Gallacher (Toy Tin Soldier)warmed up the audience and got the crowd in the mood, with songs from his new album and Scottish banter not often you see a concert venue fill up for the support act but Joe had the crowd hooked with his melodic tunes.
Acoustic Turin Brakes!
Wow, they were awesome, you can tell they have been together for a while, they were soo tight and such impressive musicianship.
They obviously enjoyed it themselves (or just pros giving the audience that impression, doubtful), gave a full range of their works from early on to latest album, I loved it.
The only downside was that sound wasn’t top quality but I think that’s the venue’s fault not TB’s, the lighting was a bit dodgy at times too.
All in all, pretty bloody good!
As expected, a very intense and very well sounding gig by Turin Brakes, in the cozy venue 'De Helling', Utrecht.
Great sound, by the band as well as the venue. New songs, oldies, public favorites.
Instruments (acoustic and electric) sounded great, vocals were clear and perfectly pitched. The routine and experience the band show in performing is obvious, but their enthusiasm is contagious!
Always great to see this band in action, and looking forward to see them again a.s.a.p!
This band thrive in small intimate venues, creating an atmosphere that is unique to their shows. They never fail to deliver a fantastic performance, and at the Arts Club, Liverpool on 7/10 they even gave us a snippet of a Beatles tribute (Tomorrow Never Knows). This is a band who obviously love what they do, and this comes across to anyone watching. This year, they are on top of their game.
It was a truly awesome gig. I've seen Turin Brakes many times and this was probably the best of them all. They've really grown into themselves and loosened up, whilst staying tight and clearly well rehearsed. Unlike so many bands that have had a long career the new material is every bit as good as the old stuff
What a fab night at the ruby lounge in manchester turin brakes were on fire
Fantastic expanded live versions of all our favourite tunes and top fun interaction with
Us mancs
3 encores say it all really
Hope you managed to fit in that wee boys xxxx
I hadn't seen them since playing a tiny gig in Brighton years ago. So glad I dug deep for the somewhat pricey tickets - Great show! All the classics. Funny and engaging rapport with the crowd.
Cheers lads.

Steyning.
first time i've saw the band live and i wasn't disappointed. great venue for live music but if near bar area there is far to much noise from people who'd rather drink and talk crap than listen to the music.
