I saw them live in Detroit a while back and had so much fun. It was a small crowd and they interacted with the audience a lot - responding to song requests and talking to individual people. The music sounded great and they played a good mix of old and new songs. They did an awesome encore playing one of my favorite songs from the old album. That’s what I love about this band, they know what songs resonate with their audiences and they know how to keep the show fresh. The lead singer Torquil was very into the performance and I loved watching him sing! At one point he was leaning down – only a foot from our faces (we were front row) and then he drops his microphone and then swings it back up! It was an awesome experience. After the show we waited outside and met him. He was so nice and talked to us for a while and took a picture with us! Amy also rocked out and her voice sounds so good live – I wish we would have met her as well. I would definitely recommend seeing them live, especially at a smaller venue. Stars are an indie band from Canada that sound similar to Death Cab for Cutie and Ra Ra Riot.
Okay, here's the deal: Hey Rosetta is an awesome band...they are technically proficient musicians, they are personable, the songwriting is amazing and they made the audience feel loved and appreciated. In addition, the venue at the NAC is perfect...large enough to accommodate the fans and yet intimate enough to allow for a feeling of closeness with the performers. I really enjoyed the warm up act.
When the time came for Stars...well lets just say I left early. Is that because of the band...no they are great. Is it because of the music...no, I love almost everything they have recorded. No, it was the sound. Whomever they hired to do the technical work needs to get a hearing check. The bass and drums were so loud I literally could not hear the vocalist. It was sometimes difficult to make out which song they were playing. No exaggeration. Hope they get that fixed up for the rest of the tour.
That's my opinion anyway.
First of all let me say that Rough Trade NYC is one of the best venues I have ever been to for live music. It actually reminds me of the Jazz Workshop in Boston with a tiny room and incredible talents like Jerry Garcia and George Benson stopping by. Stars was no exception. First time seeing with my niece who is a looong time fan, and was not disappointed. I was frankly quite surprised at the mastery and innovative skills of everyone in this group! They went waaay beyond what you hear either on NPR or an album/ Very entertaining, incredible crowd interaction. The setlist satisfied everyone, from earlier songs to their most current, quite a few which I sang along to. LOL! Put this band on your must see and repeat see list.
Stars at Old Rock House - St. Louis, MO This show was like a great party with old friends. This is my third time seeing Stars, and I always leave with a smile on my face. GREAT stuff, and I enjoy the band's engaging banter with the audience. So many people around us knew every word to every song, and it was fun to be a part of. Love this band, and I'm glad they are making stops in St. Louis. It's clear they have a decent fan base here. Thank you, Stars!! Opener 'Hey Rosetta!' was a delightful start. As my friend said "I think opening with a seven-piece band is a damn good omen". Great sound, and I was happy to see the crowd appreciate them as much as they deserved.
Expected to love this show, was not disappointed. Superb showman/woman...singing their hearts out while making the audience feel like they all belonged. A truly inclusive vibe. Great grooves all night and some of the best lyrics going. Loved hearing new material, these guys are timeless. Wishing the sound was a little clearer so we could make out more of what was being said (and a better beer selection at the Vogue would be nice) but a fantastic 5 star show all the same. So glad we left the house!

I've loved them since college and finally got to see them live last night in Austin, which was amazing - they put on a great show, full of energy, really connecting with the audience. There was singing along, there was cathartic screaming, there was slight reworking of lyrics to throw shade at Trump...it was awesome.
This was my second time seeing Stars live and it was such a blast. I am not as familiar with their newest album as their older ones (been a fan since 2005), but they played a really nice mix of old and new songs and had such great energy. I danced my ass off along with most of the crowd.

The new album is very dancable and disco.
"Trap Door" was my favourite song last night.
Supportact were "Children" from Berlin, also worth to check them out.
Great Gig! The members of the group enjoyed the energy from the audience and deliver all from them in each song.
Is amazing how for all the kind of music exist fans and people who knows the songs and make the connection with the artist
