Biografie

  • Kamelot – formed in 1991 by members Thomas Youngblood and Richard Warner – is an American power metal band hailing from Tampa, Florida, U.S.

Before their official formation in 1991, Kamelot or Camelot as they were known contributed to the heavy metal cassette entitled “Tampa Bay’s Metal Mercenaries: The Invasion” in which the band recorded the song “Breaking the Silence”. It wasn’t however until 1994 when Kamelot signed with Noise Records and a year later upon the release of their debut album “Eternity” (1995) that the band had their first taste of success.

The band released “Dominion” in 1997 and with new members Casey Grillo on drums and Roy Khan on vocals, the album “Siege Perilous” in 1998. It was followed by their first tour, which included various parts of Europe, before returning to the studio to record their fourth LP “The Fourth Legacy” in 1999.

Their fifth album “Karma” (2001) was their first to make the charts in any country and represented more of a shift into the mainstream. The albums “Epica” in 2003, “The Black Halo” in 2005, and “Ghost Opera” in 2007 were popular in notable heavy metal countries including Germany, Finland and Japan but wan’t until 2010’s “Poetry for the Poisoned” that they had across the board chart success. “Poetry for the Poisoned” featured the singles “The Great Pandemonium”, “Hunter’s Season” and “Thespian Drama” and attempted to explore a more diverse set of topics. Following all of their albums Kamelot were extensive tourers with shows across North America, Europe and parts of Asia, with their live show garnering popular support.

With new vocalist Tommy Karevik, Kamelot released their tenth full-length album “Silverthorn” on October 24, 2012 through Edel Music, it charted on the U.S. Billboard 200 at No. 74 and features guest vocals from Elize Ryd and Alissa White-Gluz.

  • Kamelot

Power metal is something of an enigma when regarding genre as all the gritty, grungy conventions of metal remain yet instead of visceral vocals, they are replaced with something pretty anthemic. It does not attract all metal fans yet Kamelot prove there is definitely a cult market for this type of music.

The quintet from Florida has been performing since the early 90s and with all their experience onstage and countless performances and appearances, you are left with a highly proficient live act with some serious instrumental talent. Whilst the musicians go about recreating their tracks to a level that would have you mistaken they had simply turned on the record, Tommy Karevik whips his crowd into frenzy with heightened choruses and bellowing singalongs. For those who want their metal music with a little bit more grandeur, I would highly recommend purchasing tickets to see Kamelot as you will not be left disappointed.

  • You can hear what sounds like epic tribal music – I say tribal music, purely just because I’m hearing the sounds of plainchant, mixed with drums that sounds like they are being absolutely walloped.

As members start to walk out on stage, there is a big level of hysteria amongst this audience as you start to see hands up in the air sporting the horns, ready to rock. As the band finally walk out on stage, there is a count in on a huge open hi hat and the riffs commence, as do the circle pits, which from up the hill slightly in this festival is quite a spectacle. Kamelot launch into “Rule the World”, which has the audience singing along in the chorus as loud as they can. They have a habit of composing rather catch choruses. One of the things that really impresses me is how big the orchestral sounds are, making is sound like there is the Philharmonic orchestra behind them. A very interesting sound indeed.

  • Even though there was the rain that happened just before Dragonforce hit the stage, this was a killer concert. Dragonforce simply tore it up. Both Herman Li, and Sam Totman proved that they can and do shred like maniacs, in a live setting. The whole band kicked ass that night.

What can one say about Kamelot that hasn't already been said? They deserve complete respect for the great show they put on. It was a night that saw them play a mix of songs from past releases, and the newest release "Haven".

Tommy Karevik is just the perfect fit for this band. Sure there are those who would rather have Roy Khan singing, but Tommy can sing anything and everything from their whole catalog of music. They are a band of talent, skill, and are very active on stage. Do not miss the chance to see them if they play in your town.

  • Kamelot! WOW! Highly recommended if you are considering it. Such a neat and polished show for such loud and complicated metal. They really are professionals who know how to hype the crowd up and engage without too much downtime. They sneak in surprising classics but rep the new album hard and their live sound was fabulous. Tommy Karevik serves as master of ceremonies beautifully (Roy who?) Also worth noting: Delain and Battle Beast were very fun openers.

  • the show was awsome and had a great setlist. the band members and others selected were a great mix of songs. however,... when I printed out the ticket, it did NOT specify the erly VIP acsess time on when I should appear there. Id like it the next time, to say the VIP tickets time for the meet and greets cus those are seprate times. PLEASE HAVE THE PRINT OUTS SAY THIS IN ADVANCE FOR FUTURE SHOWS.

  • Amazing show! Never heard of battle beast before but they knocked it outta the park great performance!

Sonata Arctica struggled getting the guys voice to go above the guitars and drums and stuff.

Kamelot delivered in performance you could tell they loved to play their show and the lead singer loved interacting with the audience. Will see it again if they come back.

  • Phenomenal show! You definitely get your money's worth... and more! It's a fantastic, high energy performance with an incredible line-up and a great venue. The event started off with a killer performance by Battle Beast, followed by the incredible Delain and finally, Kamelot who absolutely rocked it!

Totally worth seeing if you get the chance.

  • Fantastic concert! You really could tell from the band's presentation that they loved playing in the Netherlands, and that they were very happy that could end there European tour in the renewed Tilburg venue with 2000 outrageous fans.

  • This show was simply fantastic! The way they interact with the audience and make us a part of the show is what makes this great. Kamelot know what they are doing and please keep on doing it. I will definitely see them again.

  • I was much more impressed with Sonata Arctica than Battle Beast or Kamelot. Pretty disappointed that Sonata Arctica had the shortest set of all of them. Left half a song into Kamelot's set.
