• The Ready Set

  Jordan Witzigreuter, the frontman of The Ready Set has stolen my heart once again. In fact, forget the best song ever, this is the best live show ever. To start with, The new album 'The Bad & The Better' has been finally released after 4 years of waiting, but let me tell you the wait was worth it because the strong upbeat and hooks got me on my feet once again and dancing my night away. The Ready Set has always had that power to change your mood completely and that's what makes them unique in those aspects. The clapping beat and strong edge vibe into the hit song 'Higher' grabs the interest of the fans as fast as swinging stars - from huge festivals and venues to smaller ones. Its high energy chorus makes us burst into flames and endure the happiness within the song itself and makes us want to dance while The Ready Set are performing it. Furthermore, the second hit song 'Castaway' which is different and also inspirational (but a few oppose and pin it as a love song but I personally think its a song dedicated to the fans.) The message Jordan spreads us with in the song is that hope and dreams are scattered somewhere and we should search and fight for it, something Jordan himself was in a battle with. It’s a heartwarming song when they sing. it gets the crowd emotional but still being there in that crowd and listening to it makes the crowd tight like a family. The Ready Set has these hidden gems in each of their songs that makes us feel like we belong on that stage. The whole band is a deceleration of encouragement and motivation. The Ready Set, says it all.

• Jordan Witzigreuter released his first full length album as The Ready Set before he was 20 years old and was signed to Pete Wentz’ vanity label Decaydance a couple of months after that. With that context in mind it’s sort of understandable that someone so annoyingly young (he’s twenty five in November) could be so adept at performing live. Witzigreuter may be young but with two further albums, four E.P’s and a slew of nationwide tours under his belt he’s already a road veteran. One who’s honed his brand of rocked up synth-pop to the extent that it takes on a life of its own in the live arena. He’s done so by focusing on the Rock aspect of his music over every other part. The Ready Set may have begun life as a project started in his parents’ basement but when paired with his backing band it becomes difficult to believe that it wasn’t written with one huge audience in mind. Love Like Woe’s wordless sing-along is irresistible as is the propulsive dance-pop of Give Me Your Hand. The extra weight that Witzigreuter’s backing band lends his songs makes them go down like gangbusters in front of any audience that they find themselves in front of. This all leads into the real reason it’s so inspiring that Witzigreuter is so young, he has every aspect of his music down pat and he’s still learning. For The Ready Set, the only way is up, catch them now, and brag about it later!

• Modern technology is a wonderful thing which is what Jordan Mark Witzigreuter discovered. From the depths of his basement he created The Ready Set, his one man band recording all the instruments by himself. With the electro-pop vibe that The Ready Set has on record, it’s difficult to emulate on stage so by recruiting a touring band members really brings it to life. The Ready Set have an infectious energy aided by the use of synths with tracks like “Hollywood Dream” and “Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever) and the crowd can’t help but bounce their arms up and down while shaking their heads from side to side. Sending out positive messages with “Fangz” adds to the upbeat atmosphere as the crowd absorb the music and sing it back word for word. The dynamics of the band on stage works really well as they hype up the audience keeping the energy alive as the jump like jelly beans all over the stage before Witzigreuter shouts ‘I wanna see you jump, jump, jump!’ Ending with “Love Like Woe” a clear crowd favourite, has them bouncing up and down as they sing the ‘woah oh ohs’ in unison adding to the already electric atmosphere. If you came to party, The Ready Set will show you a real good time!

• I absolutely loved The Wanted tour on December 4th in Poughkeepsie, NY!!!! I mainly went to see Boys Like Girls but I loved being able to see The Wanted, Olly Murs, Austin Mahone, Chris Wallace, and The Boys!!! Those are a few of my favorite people. I brought a few of my best friends and all of them loved me for that and have begged me to take them again (hopefully I will be able to)!! We went backstage and got introduced to everyone and I nearly cried it was so amazing!!! I would certainly go again if I got the chance!!
