The Story So Far are an American pop punk band from Walnut Creek, California, who formed in 2007. They’re currently signed to Pure Noise.
The band’s website loudly proclaims that their work ethic and attitude basically corresponds directly to one of their lyrics - “you don’t deserve what you haven’t earned” - but the band themselves had hardly been slogging it out for years before their own breakthrough came along - the group were not long out of school when they put together the original lineup of Parker Chest Hole Cannon on lead vocals, Kelen Capener on bass, Ryan Torf behind the drums and Kevin Geyer and Kevin Ambrose playing guitar. That same lineup still exists today, although with William Levy having replaced Ambrose on six-string duties.
The band have released two albums to date, and their first, ‘Under Soil and Dirt’, saw them move a step closer to the holy grail for pop punk bands, the Warped Tour, by playing both its UK leg and its warm-up, Road to Warped, in their native U.S. in 2012. They built up enough of a fanbase through events like that - as well as through high-profile support slots to the likes of New Found Glory - to secure them a slot on the tour proper in 2013, around the time they were promoting album number two, ‘What You Don’t See’. They returned to the tour in 2014, alongside the likes of Bowling for Soup and The Devil Wears Prada, and are lined up to be a key fixture on the Pop Punk’s Not Dead Tour of Europe in winter 2014, too.

Coming out of Walnut Creek, California the band has been on a rocket ship of exposure as they began in the very sought after Warped Tour playing along with the greats such as Less Than Jake and New Found Glory. But I was able to catch them in Portland, Oregon where they brought punk to the home of grunge.
Hawthorne Theatre is not a large arena by any means but you couldn't tell that by the volume of the audience. Hundreds of fans singing along as the band pounded their way through hard-hitting songs. What amazed me is how much the band vibed with the audience. This was not a stiff show with people swaying to the songs they liked. It felt more like being at someone's house with your friends on stage, rocking out. To add to that feeling, the small stage was swarmed with audience members jumping up, running around and then diving into their fellow fans - all while front man Parker Cannon continued to spit lyrics and expertly dodge the oncoming rush of super fans.
By far one of the more intense shows I've been to and who doesn't like a guy jumping off the stage and falling right next to you?
American pop punk outfit The Story So Far have really appealed to the British audience with a sound reminiscent of Fall Out Boy and contemporaries All Time Low. The relatable lyrics and infectious hooks turned the tracks of their first two albums into underground cult hits and it is impressive just how much of the material is known and sang back in force this evening.
The band seems to have quite a jam session style when performing live, at times you feel as though they have forgotten the baying crowd is present at all as the members huddle towards the back of the stage before lead singer Parker Cannon turns and almost launches himself at the front row while expecting them to sing back the chorus of 'Things I Can't Change'. The quintet really does know the material well and despite having only broken from beneath the radar in 2007 there is the impression that they have been practising some of these tracks such as 'Daughters' and 'Roam' for years and years previous. With a strong support base, I would not be surprised to see this band appearing more regularly on UK radio and charts.
One word review - mental - Me and a few hundred people crammed into the New Cross Inn, jumping sweating and singing along to their songs, loads of crowd surfing, plenty of sweaty bodies, in quite frankly a venue not able to contain them.
I hadn’t really heard of these guys before the gig and wasn’t really converted to be honest, I find their music all a bit samey and there are better bands out there IMO. But if you like their music, they do put on a great show and the fans in the place were pretty hardcore, so if you’re into them, you’ll have a great time.
Pop punk badassery, as always. Ended so beautifully with clairvoyant- definitely a highlight. Crowd was lit, the set was great (good mix of old and new songs), sick venue, what more could you ask for? The story so far is one of the best pop punk bands out there in 2018.
Great great show, these dudes play hard and love their fans. I just wish you could heart the singer over the crowd though it was very annoying wanting to hear the singer sing but couldn't because his voice volume was so low compared to the people and instruments
Surprisingly the Friendliest, least weedy show for this type of concert. Wasn't disappointed by one band. Great show! And I am rather fond of the varsity theater. Had a great night.
Great show, awesome atmosphere. Tssf killed it. They played some classics and some off their new album. I couldn't be happier with their performance. I can't wait to see them again.
This was a great show. These guys know how to put on an amazing performance for their fans. I highly recommend seeing them live if you are remotely interested in their music.
It was a great show. I actually went to see Turnover and Basement more so than the story so far but the venue is perfect and the bands were amazing.
