Using various genre inspirations, The String Cheest Incident is an American progressive bluegrass band from Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado formed in 1993.
The String Cheese Incident is composed of Michael Kang (acoustic/electric mandolin, electric guitar, and violin), Michael Travis (drums and percussion), Bill Nershi (acoustic guitar,lap steel guitar, and electric slide guitar), Kyle Hollingsworth (piano, organ, Rhodes, and accordion), and Keith Moseley (bass guitar), and, in 2006, Jason Hann (auxiliary percussion). The band played a few shows before forming their own independent record label SCI Fidelity and started to record their first album. They released “Born On The Wrong Planet” in 1996. Less than a year later the band released “A String Cheese Incident,” a compilation of ten song live album.
In Fall 2003 The String Cheese Incident released, “Untying the Not,” their fourth studio album and a continuation of electronic music and trance elements. The following summer they set out on tour followed a year later by the release of their fifth studio album, “One Step Closer.” In 2008 the members of The String Cheese Incident pursued solo careers and all members performed their solo work at the Rothbury Music Festival in Michigan, and a year later they reunited for the same festival. As the band's popularity grew, their live shows also great with their stage show. In Spring 2011, String Cheese Incident played a three-night run in Broomfield, Colorado, which they called the "Winter Carnival 2011." In 2014 The String Cheese Incident released their album, “A Song In My Head,” the first album released since 2009.
Mehr erfahrenString Cheese Incident is known for their over the top theatrics. It's a little hard to describe to someone who has not seen them visually but, they are always a big hit.
Their shows are always full of color, loud good music and they will also bring out costume to entertain the crowd. Tons of visual, to the point where your eyes will be wandering around to take it all in. Occasionally there is a video is the background to enhance the band's mood on the crowd. The crowds are always cheering and I haven't seen anyone who has gone to a concert ever dislike it.
"Desert Dawn" is one of my favorite songs of theirs and always enjoy it when I can hear it live. Their music is like a mix of bluegrass sounds, as well as rock, electronica, calypso, country, funk, jazz, Latin, progressive rock, reggae, and occasional psychedelia.
I'm always thrilled where they are playing close enough that I can buy tickets and go. Their music is good, but honestly this is a band you HAVE to see live just to see how creative they are. It's truly a unique experience.
SCI is great as always. i just wish they wouldn't play the orpheum in boston. it's seriously the worst venue for any musical act where people like to dance and move around. the ushers there were treating the show like it was the nutcracker and getting all pedantic with assigned seats. we went to our seats and they were taken, but so what, it's the balcony. the ushers didn't understand.
One of the best String Cheese shows I've ever been to! Kings theater was a gorgeous venue run by really nice people, and made going to this concert one of the most wonderful experiences ever!
