• Pain of Salvation

  Pain Of Salvation is a “progressive metal” band, but lets be honest; Progressive is just another word for self-indulgent. This band, who hail from Sweden led by Daniel Gildenlow is the brainchild behind everything that they do. It sounds as though they wrote the forgotten soundtrack to Lord of the Rings. Oh look, there’s the drum kit, which has about ten toms?! I just don’t get it at firs, but if you allow yourself to get swept off your feet by the music then it’s quite fun and interesting, with the stories that they tell. There is some impressive writing in the band, with a variety of time signatures and modulations, with music written for a full orchestra, who of course are on the stage with the band. Gildenlow plays an acoustic guitar that is been fashioned into the shape of a lute. Their opening song “Imago” is very musically descriptive, and the with all of the theatrics combined throughout this set, I feel more and more as though I am at a theatre watching a musical, a very dark musical.

• Hello Pain of Salvation addicts and other folks,

  It was a great show last saturday in the Meldweg, Amsterdam, with old (One hour by the concrete lake) and new (The passing light of day) songs. I could see that the band had a lot of fun and so did the audience.

  This is a performance i will always remember because of Daniel's resurrection after his disease and the superb performance.

• Awesome concert, but the warm up was too fucking long... 3 bands? three and half hours between opening doors and the beginning of Pain's concert? I wanted to kill myself. PoS is an amazing band, I've been listening to them for the past 13 years... but they need to start taking themselves more seriously and get rid of the "aspiring bands" opening gig. it's not to their level.

• Straight up my favorite band. They are amazing, yet underrated. Insane connection with the crowd. Passionate, emotional, intelligent, creative, powerful, skilled, diverse, energetic, charismatic. They rarely came to North America, first show I've seen was yesterday and it was an absolute blast. Most see for any music fan.

• Great. Passionate, emotional, good sound quality. Songs from the new album "passing light of day" and the road to Salt albums perform incredibly live. Songs from older albums were ok, but the songs from the new album are way ahead in terms of songwriting.

• Amazing performance by Pain of Salvation,one of the best gigs ever by them and in the history of Islington Assembley Hall,London. Truly one of the best PROG bands in the history.Daniel Gildenlow is a talent and one of the best vocalists ever.

• Insane show. These guys are the real deal. Wow. I was late for the meet and greet. Missed it by 15 min. Saw the drummer in the crowd and I asked him if I could meet the band and he went and hooked me up in the back room. Great night.

• Such a great gig! It had been a few years since I last saw POS and, I must say, they are still awesome on stage. The support band (Port Noir) were also quite good, I'll definitely start listening to their music.
