Biography

  • Galantis (formed in 2012) is a Swedish big room, progressive and electro house music production and songwriting duo, hailing from Stockholm, Sweden.

Galantis is the dance music project of Christian Karlsson (aka Bloodshy). RIAA gold-certified debut album Pharmacy reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance album chart on the strength of platinum-certified single “Peanut Butter Jelly” and 3x platinum certified smash “Runaway (U & I)” – the latter of which earned a GRAMMY nomination for “Best Dance Recording” – while 2017’s sophomore album The Aviary (featuring 2x platinum-certified single “No Money”) saw a top 10 debut in 23 countries. The third Galantis album, 2020’s Church, featured the chart-topping gold-certified single “Faith” with country music icon Dolly Parton featuring Mr. Probz, which saw a #1 debut on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Chart before quickly reaching #1 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart where it remained for 5 weeks. Meanwhile, gold-certified collaborative single “Heartbreak Anthem” with David Guetta & Little Mix proved a global sensation, spending 10 weeks on the Billboard Global 200 chart and 13 consecutive weeks in the top 10 on the UK Official Chart. Latest album, Rx, is Karlsson’s most deeply personal creation to date – featuring pop banger “Lighter” with Guetta and 5 Seconds of Summer which landed No.1 on the US Dance Radio chart. Galantis has received over 7.3 billion cumulative worldwide streams and over 1.9 billion video views to date.

Live reviews

  • Galantis

The Swedish electronic dance music group, Galantis blew me away before they even came out on stage. The lights went out, and the stage filled with smoke and crazy lights, before the duo came on stage with their arms in the air. Witnessing some of their first ever live performances was something really incredible, ad their electric energy was incredibly contagious and they had everyone singing along with their samples and dancing to their incredible beats straight away.

Something that I wasn’t expecting that I was pleasantly surprised by, was their live production of music over their pre-recorded mixes. They both had either synths, or electronic drum pads, and were rocking it simultaneously with their DJing throughout the show. It’s always great to see DJs performing music live and showcasing their talent. They were both great at getting the audience going, and had microphone that they were holding out in their samples, such as the track ‘You’, where they got everyone singing along. They played a great selection of tracks, and mixes up their really heavy EDM with tracks with pop samples in them to keep everyone engaged. The show was pretty long, I’d say about 2 hours, and the guys were dancing along, and 100% dedicated to their music from start to finish, they were great performers as well as talented musicians.

  • Sweden has a history with big room and electro dance music and it would seem the shining star of the market for 2015 are Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw better known as Galantis. Should you have switched on a radio this year you are unlikely to have escaped the infectiousness of 'Runaway (You & I)' and 'Peanut Butter Jelly'. Galantis are not a new concept though as the duo have been recording, releasing and most importantly performing live for over two years.

They understand the conventions of live performance and most importantly how to apply them to their genre. Dance music is inherently difficult to make interesting as you do not have instrumentalists to engage the audience yet Galantis manage with an impressive visual display and momentous electro music. The mix seems to have a life of its own as it moves along, lifting and dropping much to the delight of the energetic audience. When the hits such as 'You' are played between remixes and dance floor fillers the crowd roars as the two DJs raise their arms signalling for them to lose their minds. Wait for the album and watch this burning flame be fuelled ever more brighter.

  • The venue for this show was absolutely awful. We understood from the set list that Galantis would go on at 3:30A and the show started at 2:30A. I could not get into the venue once the show started as the security guards told me it was overcrowded and was a fire hazard if they let anymore people in.

No representative from Songkick was present according to them, so I could not speak with anyone about this situation during the concert. Security staff were also rude and were not willing to speak with me when I addressed the situation.

As a result, I didn't end up seeing the show and left. I was extremely frustrated and will never buy tickets from Songkick or go to this venue again.

I believe I should be fully refunded for the tickets as this is Songkick's responsibility for overselling the venue and creating a dangerous situation for guests of the performance.

  • The event staff was VERY disorganized. It took us nearly an hour to get into the event because staff kept repeating that one line was 21 to drink while the other wasn't. Those 18-20yo could skip the long drink line for ID bands and enter the venue. By the time we got to the front we saw that there was a booth inside for 21 wrist bands and the separate long line outside was COMPLETELY unnecessary. We didn't get inside the venue until 9:45pm. To make matters worse, the line for the bar was ridiculously long. Needless to say, we missed the first 15 mins of Galantis' set.

In between the opener and Galantis, no music was played which was completely ridiculous.

As for Galantis' actual set-- the show was amazing! The lasers, visuals, & confetti drops were insane. The music/mix/sound was incredible. They did not disappoint overall.

  • Doors opened at 10, but we had to sit through 4 opening acts until Galantis finally came on. Your typical club scene, and the typical same beat club music from the opening acts. The place got way too packed. It was like the venue only cared about stuffing as many people inside with no regard to safety or fire hazards.

When Galantis finally came on, because of the openers essentially playing the same old crap, the mood was dead.

Galantis however had an amazing set. It was actual electronic music and not the same club beat repeated but in different variation. Unfortunately for ravers and people like me, there was absolutely no space to shuffle, which was a huge let down. It had that old school warehouse rave feeling which added to the atmosphere when Galantis played.

    Overall I'd give it a 7/10

  • Galantis was amazing! Great atmosphere, great supporting acts too. There was not one person stood still, everybody was moving in some way. Great mixture of people aswell, so many ethnic groups and cultural vibes going around. It was a really pleasant place to be and a great venue too if I might add. It was the nicest rave I’ve ever been too

  • Good show. not as spectacular as last year at EchoStage. DJs seemed a bit subdued. The stage set up, lights and extra effects like confetti seems very budget. I was hoping for a bit more.

I had a VIP table front row pretty close to the stage and i was surprised it wasn't as intense. I thought they would have even more fans and do something new.

  • Amazing! Most DJ sets I see are mostly just that: a set. This was a nice mixture of a set AND a show. They had a good amount of theatrics, fantastic energy, and of course the music was excellent. A lot of really special moments during the show I won't soon forget! I will see them again when they visit my area again.
