Live reviews

  • Jordan Rakei

This concert began on a very interesting note because it took place in a Jewish synagogue ... . Nevertheless, it was spacious enough and the acoustics were quite adequate. The up & coming "Sam Willis" opened this jazz concert for the audience with tunes that reminded Me of the wonderfully playful, Bobby McFerrin ... the audience loved it! Next came the main event, Jordan Rakei. Jordan Rakei young band was absolutely OUTSTANDING! He played his hit tunes, "Eye To Eye", "Say Something", "Sorceress", "Mad World", etc. and had most of the audience in the Sixth & I Street Synagogue on its feet, dancing & clapping ... SELAH! In My opinion, Jordan Rakei is becoming a superior keyboard artist, has selected a superior drummer for his band, and also has an up & coming lead guitarist ...the world could certainly have a "new" STEELY DAN!

  • Unforgettable experience! Even though I am not particularly a big fan of an r-n-b influenced genre I am finding myself really drown to the stuff which Jordan Rakei is creating. Starting from the first EP's to a rather darker atmosphere of Wallflower album end more intricate, yet not difficult to digest tunes of the Origin. Phenomenal artistry, beautifully composed songs, great musicianship from both Jordan and his bandmates, fantastic light show - can hardly imagine how all of that could leave someone unsatisfied or unimpressed. Got really shocked by exquisite improvisations within a theme, modal changes and on top of that beautifully interweaved and performed vocal lines (sometimes interlocked with a piano or a synth). Extremely high level

  • I'll remember this night for a long time! Umm...Jordan Rakei is magic. I've seen a lot of live shows in my 20-something years but the combination of venue setting, wondrous music, his voice and songs were all expanded and heightened. The room vibes were crazy, warmed up by some super cuties who are new to the scene.

Jordan Rakei is meant to be seen live over and over again. Apparently his LA fans had a big part in putting him and his first single on the map. You could tell he had a lot of love for our city and the audience. The audience craved a double encore. I can't wait to see him on his next US tour!

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Jordan Rakei support NAO in her London show December of 2015, so I was super excited to be able to see him perform as a main act in his own right.

He is an extremely talented musician and singer and is very humble.

Everything was well rehearsed, flowed , and the energy in the room was great!

If you love positive energy, good bass lines, guitar riffs , keyboard playing and just overall good music/musicianship, then Jordan Rakei is an artist you should see live.

  • Great gig, Sam Wills was good as a support act and Jordan and his band were tight. I hadn’t been to a gig at the Bussey building before and the sound quality was decent and the space good enough. His sound which had some really nice D’Angelo/soulquarian style beats and rhythm patterns were very distinctive to the set

He played a set that was reflective of his album and did a really nice rendition of Tawo to finish off. Will definitely see him again and expect big things

  • Jordan Rakei at Rough Trade Brooklyn, NY was amazing! He really captivates the crowd and you can tell that he loves the music and can feel it in his soul, like me! I would see him again in a heart beat. His band is amazing, especially the drummer (man can the drummer play!) I have been a fan for years and I am so glad he finally came to the states. <3 The only thing that could have made it better is if he sang rooftop for me! haha AMAZING PERFORMANCE - MUST SEE!

  • The concert was great!

Jordan Rakei's voice is unique and his music is constantly on my playlist.

The down side of the concert was the sound system. It was terrible at times. But I guess Jordan's unique voice made me forget it at times.

I also don't understand people that pay to see a concert and are constantly talking during the concert, especially on those calm songs.

Overall... he was great! And all the musicians. Had a fab time!

  • This is the second time I've seen Jordan perform and it was so entrancing to see him once again, overflowing with talent and soul. Each effortlessly jazzy and catchy song had all of us dancing and he and his band had such a positive energy which touched the crowd, I found it hard to stop smiling the whole evening!

Best concert of the year - when is he back?!

  • Incredible songwriter and musician. Great performance on stage as well with his band. As I love the compositions it was beautiful and touching to hear them live but I would've wished for a bit more improvisation. But that's really just my opinion because I love improvisation.

If you dig Jordan Rakei's music, don't miss this guy live!

  • Amazing amazing show! From the opening act (James), all the way to Jordan. It was just amazing. So talented. I often found myself forgetting that I was at a concert! It felt like I was at a coffee shop with my friends drinking tea listening to the sounds of a smooth live band. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough!
