Hanson (formed in 1992) is a vocal driven American pop rock group formed by brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson, hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, U.S.
After years of honing their skills around the dinner table, singing the likes of Jackson 5, Chuck Berry and other staples of rock, R&B and gospel, the Hanson brothers made their debut performance at the 1992 Mayfest Arts Festival in Tulsa. Shortly after a performance at South By Southwest, Hanson impressed music attorney Christopher Sabec enough for him to become their manager and in waiting for a label contract, released the pop-infused full-length “Boomerang” in 1995. After the release the brothers began playing their own instruments, which radically improved the band’s songwriting and led to Hanson appealing to a wider, hipper audience. The independent album “MMMBop” followed in 1996, featuring a number of songs which found their way onto Hanson’s label debut “Middle of Nowhere”.
After a performance at the Wisconsin State Fair, A&R representative Steve Greenberg instantly signed Hanson to Mercury Records and recruited the Dust Brothers to produce their first album. “Middle of Nowhere” arrived in May 1997, mixing pop sensibilities with hip production and a fierce publicity machine. Charting in over 25 countries, selling over 10 million copies worldwide, the album proved to be the band’s commercial breakthrough, turning the brothers into teen idols. The band were subsequently nominated for three Grammy Awards in 1998, released the Christmas album “Snowed In”, and embarked on the extensive Albertane Tour, playing at stadiums and arenas across the U.S.
Following Island Records’ merger with Def Jam, Hanson released their sophomore album “This Time Around” in 2000, however it lacked the promotional funding of their debut. Ultimately sales for the album were low and Island Def Jam pulled the capital for a subsequent tour, and the brothers were forced to tour on their own funds. After leaving Island Def Jam due to lack of creative freedom, Hanson released the documentary film “Strong Enough to Break” in which the brothers discuss their difficulties with the label. Prior to the release of their third full-length, “Underneath” on their own label 3CG Records, Hanson embarked on an acoustic tour ending at a show at Carnegie Hall in 2003. “Underneath” was released on April 20, 2004, topping the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart and charting at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 – an impressive feat for an independent act.
To promote their forthcoming album “The Walk” Hanson went on a preview tour, performing at a number of venues within six days followed by question and answer sessions. “The Walk” was eventually released in July 2007 on 3CG Records and earned positive reviews from the musical press. Shortly afterwards the band rerecorded their “Middle Of Nowhere” album with acoustic instrumentation, which was released on Hanson’s website in late 2007.
The group’s eighth studio album “Shout It Out” was issued in 2010 which was supported by a co-headlining tour alongside Hellogoodbye. Hansen subsequently released the album “Anthem” in 2013, which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200, aided by the single “Get the Girl Back”.

Since those heady Smash Hits days, the trio have developed a much more diverse sound. Taking elements from folk, soul, rock and pop, they combine these with their signature 3 part harmony to produce a range of catchy tunes. Now with a six album back catalogue, all penned by the band, there is a lot of material to cover in a live show. However, Hanson is careful to select songs from each release, including an updated version of the aforementioned Mmmbop, to create a perfect balance of ballads, anthems and groove along hits.
Gigs tend to be in medium sized venues with an intimate feel to capture both the all out, brass accompanied power numbers right through to the awe-inspiring acapella moments. Zac, Isaac and Taylor also like to add to the variety by each performing solos, often switching from their regular instrument to even better showcase their individual talents.
Expect a fair amount of audience participation; these gentlemen are seasoned performers and they are definitely committed to putting on an amazing show.
Brother trio Hanson are often dismissed as being a one hit wonder after their 90s hit 'MMMbop' topped charts worldwide. Unfortunately for the group, this immediate success acted as something of a double edged sword as their following releases did not achieve matching success.
Many people do not realise that the band have now released nine studio albums and they did chart again with other singles. The fans gathered for the gig tonight are well aware and have followed Hanson throughout their career. The boys have a wonderful enthusiasm to their stage show and they seem to enjoy playing a mixture of all their music including 'Where's The Love' and 'If Only'. There are of course the expected cheers for the recognisable opening bars to 'MMMbop' but as it dropped mid-set, Hanson goes about capitalising on the energy to demonstrate some of their other music. By the finale the group has proven they have vocal and instrumental ability that easily surpasses one popular record.

It was so good. Having a symphony just added a fullness to the songs. I love how they just go from one song to the next without stopping to talk, it's like listening to a CD. Also, the fact that they all can play each others instruments with such ease is just amazing and makes the show more seemless.
Really nice idea and the symphony was great. I didn't get the whole "story" piece and felt like the concert could have been a bit longer. They took a pretty significant break and started late. Also, why play "Yearbook"? Does anyone really like that song? So many better choices out there!
It was an amazing experience! Great sound, beautiful voices and the perfect location to enjoy the journey of the string theory show! Seeing a Hanson show was on my bucket list since 1997, and theIt performance was beyond my expectations!
ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!!! AMAZING!! ASTONISHING!!! EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY SONG THEY SANG MELTED MY HEART!! I WILL LOVE THE GUYS TILL THE DAY I DIE!!! HANSON WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART AND IN MY LIFE FOREVER!!!
They’re Hanson, they’re always amazing, wonderful, and entertaining. Great selection of songs, I love how they’re not auto tuned or lip syncing - ever. Phenomenal artists who excel in their craft.
Amazing show as always. All the arrangements with the orchestra were phenomenal. By far knead of the best shows I've been too and cant wait for the album so I can listen to the show whenever I want.
