Live reviews

  • The Maine

I have grown with The Maine over the last 5 years, from their first album Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, all the way to Forever Halloween. In this time they have produced 4 incredible albums, each one different from the last, but still keeping a sound so familiar to The Maine.

There are two things that make The Maine different from other bands; their love for their fans and their desire to make real music that means something to them, and this really comes through in their live performances.

The Maine usually play small venues, making it even more special and intimate; they never disappoint. These five guys from Phoenix, Arizona come alive on stage wherever they play relying on their talent alone to entertain the crowds. The Maine don’t need amazing light arrangements or backgrounds, themselves and their instruments are more than enough to keep us coming back for more.

The whole band get really into the zone, especially at the start of a set, where they prove that they deserve their title of a rock band. Garrett, on bass, and Jared, on guitar, are always rocking out together on the left side of the stage, where they vibe of one another. John can go from encouraging and shouting with the crowd to being in his own little world, so engrossed in the music. He is always so happy to be singing and performing, and really relishes fans in the audience singing along to his words.

With 7 years worth of back catalogue to choose from they play different sets at each tour, always with variety, playing songs from all four albums and always pleasing the crowd with favourites such as Run, Right Girl, My Heroine and Identify. If it’s one thing I don’t doubt; The Maine love making music and playing together, and they are so appreciative of every single person that supports them in any way, so much more than any other band. And that is why I love them. They create incredible music and will never forget the support they have had to allow them to live their dream.

10 shows over 4 years and I still can’t wait for the next one.

  • The Maine are one of the best bands to see live, for anyone regardless of their music taste. These guys have been touring for a decade and have a huge fan base. They have a ton of experience involving the crowd and bringing their concerts to another level. They have plenty of albums with different sounds, so chances are you'll find something that clicks for you!

This concert was no different, they played a good bit from their last two albums (my personal favorites) and they always closeout with the perfect ending - Another Night on Mars.

This was the first time I went to Ambrose west and while the setup was very clean and organized, the heat was almost unbearable. It was a sold out show but there really isn't any ceiling fans to cool down the crowd. Even the Maine mentioned the heat several times.

Parking is fine, about two minutes down the street there is plenty of lots.

    Overall

    The Maine 10/10

    Ambrose West 6/10

  • Attended the modern nostalgia tour. It was a super great light show, looked really really cool from my angle. The lead singer was pretty funny, he had this whole thing he spoke about Donald Trump, it made me laugh XD IDK if this is their choice or not, but they always seem to have good openers, which is always a plus since I like to stay for the whole thing :) I liked this tour more than the typical album tours because they played the albums back to back and that was so awesome. 10/10 would recommend!!! Only thing I would critique was that the openers had a lower sound than The Maine and honestly I would've preferred it to be quieter during The Maine's set, it was kinda hard to hear the vocals over the instrumentals.

  • The staff at the venue were professional and quick which meant we didnt have to wait in the cold too long.

The support bands; Guillotine and Wallflower were very good and fulfilled the job of a support act. Both bands were also interactive with the crowd which is also necessary for a support group.

The Maine were exceptional, the setlist was amazing and was a true mix of old songs and new songs. A lot of the songs were from the American Candy album, which is my personal favourite, so as a fan it worked in my favour.

If you like The Maine I would 100% recommend to see them and I cant wait to see them again at Slam Dunk in Hertfordshire.

  • The Mirror was an experience that I will cherish for a lifetime. At first I thought the hype behind the “theme” of the tour would ruin it for me, but The Maine executed a perfect set of exhilaration, energy, and euphoria. The music was injected with an amazing arrangement of instruments, lyrics that rock your soul, and an energy that got the whole crowd moving, from mosh pit to crowd surf. The lights show was magnificent as was the screen behind the band with powerful graphics and lyric depiction. The Maine is your favorite small band that provides the show of a big band. 8123 means everything to me.

  • I have seen The Maine 4 times on the current tour. They played 5 songs from their latest album and a good mix of the previous albums. They even changed the setlist multiple times. I just can't get enough of this band, no matter how many times I see them. Love their shows and it's amazing being able to meet them after every single show, because they want to meet their fans or worded differently the 8123 family. Hope it won't take them 5 years again until they come back, and if so, I'll just keep travelling for them. Favorite band!

  • First time seeing The Maine live playing full set here in Manila instead of just an acoustic one back in 2015 when they were the opening band for All Time Low for their "Future Hearts" tour. It was fun and exciting as one you would expect from them especially if you've been listening to them for a long time but have only seen them perform on stage through your computer screens or mobile devices.

Even had an encore performance since the fans wanted more. Hope to see them again here in Manila soon!

  • The Maine are a band I have loved for a long time now, and seeing them live was the cherry on top of the melodical masterpiece that is their music. With the building anticipation from the support acts Nick Santino and Lydia, they arrived with a storm of cheers and soon began playing. Throughout the night, I could have died with happiness as they played my favourite songs. Both the artist and venue I would definitely go to see again. 10/10 without a second thought

  • One the best nights of my life for sure, I cried, I laughed, I had a blast and I screamed all the lyrics I knew at the top of my lungs. It was incredible, you can't not get emotional at moments like unlost, how do you feel, and another night on mars. I didn't realized how much the maine means to me until I saw them live, if you haven't seem them live you're definitely missing out.

  • The energy was amazing. The Maine was always trying to get the crowd going and involved. They even brought a fan on stage to sing one of the songs. The concert was fun and they played a lot of their well known songs. They initially did not want to do an encore, but they did one anyways because I suppose the crowd deserved it! Would recommend seeing them again!!
