3/21/18 The Beauty of Brooke at Beachland!" I keep hearing that Ms. Jonatha Brooke may be "an acquired taste" due to a lack of familiarity among the masses. Ladies and gentlemen, EVERY performer should be blessed with this much talent! Jonatha excels as a singer, a songwriter, a multi-instrumentalist, an entertainer, and as a really engaging storyteller. She's been doing this for decades now with tremendous success, in my opinion, even if she's not a household name among music lovers. I'd call her concerts more “experiences”, as she tells stories around each song, many having to do with the hard lessons of love, family challenges and old age. Then she lifts you up with beautiful odes to romance and being with the person you love intimately, joyfully. This is exactly the kind of show she gave her audience last night at the famed Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, OH. Add in some clever humor throughout the 18 song set and you have a recipe for an unforgettable evening. Having seen her several times, what is most notable is the confidence level she now has in her performance. Her honesty and genuineness, her show pacing, sweet voice, unique guitar-picking and audience engagement makes an audience feel like part of her extended family. It's so refreshing to feel like you are at a show that was just “yours”, not built on some template set list, but brought to you, the audience, as a gift for that particular evening. For this acoustic rock artist, performing is sharing her head, her heart and memories and it's all beautiful.
A very wonderful, intimate evening with Jonatha as she played solo and acoustic - guitar, piano, and a little handheld instrument that my friend said is African by origin. Most of the night was dedicated to Jonatha's mother who recently passed...Jonatha was her caregiver during her last months. You could feel her love and devotion in what she played and her witty, bittersweet anecdotes between songs. It is very good to have Jonatha back performing after her hiatus...if she has a show near you, go go go!

Every time We get to see Jonatha Brooke we are never disappointed. She is a wonderful Singer/songwriter who will touch your heart. She took the time to speak with my wife and I. If you get the opportunity to support her touring, DO IT. Buy her music and fall in love.
Have seen Jonatha a number of times and she is always great, but this night was even a step above, the vocals, lead and harmonies were spot on, sound was great and as always she was funny and real. Had a great time.
