Todd Anthony Shaw, otherwise known as Too $hort, is an influential rapper originating from Los Angeles, California US. He has delved in to production along with lyrical wordplay, and also runs his own record label - Up All Nite Records.
Since 1982, Too $hort actively produced and released LPs such as ‘Don’t Stop Rappin’, ‘Players’ and ‘Raw, Uncut and X-Rated’, before gaining widespread recognition and an RIAA Gold certification, along with a chart-spot of no. 50 in the US R&B listings, with ‘Born to Mack’. Too $hort’s initial success continued as the explicit rapper achieved numerous accolades throughout the 1990s. The albums ‘Get in Where You Fit In’, ‘Cocktails’ and ‘Gettin’ It (Album Number Ten)’ all peaked at the top of the US R&B charts and received an RIAA Platinum rating, whilst also charting in the top 10 of the US Albums chart. Between 1996-2000, Too $hort achieved five top 10 positions in the US Rap chart with singles such as ‘More Freaky Tales’ and ‘2 Bitches’.
Too $hort continued to release records through the 2000s and 2010s; most notably, his album ‘Blow the Whistle’ peaked at no. 14 on the US Billboard 200. He encountered great success when featuring on tracks with other music artists too; for instance, he rapped on Kelis’s ‘Bossy’ in 2006 which peaked at no. 16 on the US Singles Chart, and he partook on Chris Brown’s ‘Loyal’ which peaked at number nine in 2014.
Too $hort is often compared to E-40, Ant Banks and Mistah F.A.B, and the Californian-born lyricist performed at prestigious settings such as iTunes Festival and Coachella. Too $hort’s talents have also lead him further afield; he played the role of Lew-Loc in the film Menace II Society and voiced the character Fillyacup on the animated sitcom The Siccness Network between 2000-2001, whilst he has also been a mentor at Youth Uprising, an organization serving at-risk youths.
As such a mainstay in the hip-hop scene, Too $hort worked alongside artists such as Twista, Snoop Dogg and Jagged Edge, and is regarded as a true pioneer of the West Coast movement.

The legendary MC performs infrequently, yet tickets to his shows are a hot commodity as fans line up to hear his extensive musical works that span 19 albums, 10 of which have earned gold or platinum status. No tour has been announced for 2014, although Too Short is expected to perform a concert or two over the course of the year. Too Short re-emerged in 2006 with "Blow the Whistle," peaking at No. 14 on the Billboard 200, his highest selling and most critically acclaimed album in years. He followed up with "Get Off The Stage" (2007), "Still Blowin'" (2010) and "No Trespassing" (2012). Along with "Still Blowin'" and "No Trespassing," Too Short has performed a variety of guest tracks for the likes of Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger, 50 Cent, Lil' Jon, Scarface and Wiz Khalifia. He is also featured on Lady Gaga's track "Jewels and Drugs" alongside T.I. and Twista.
Todd Anthony Shaw, otherwise known as Too Short has been credited as one of the most important and influential rappers to emerge from the West Coast hip hop scene and this legacy means that his live show is still very much in demand almost thirty years after Shaw began his career. Having enjoyed sharing a stage with both the iconic Tupac and Notorious B.I.G during the height of their respective careers, the rapper has a kind of unspoken iconic status of his own when performing.
His music would have been a staple part of the West Coast scene and therefore there is resonance when he drops 'City of Dope' and 'The Ghetto'. The audience really knows his songs and no matter where he takes the tracks from, considering he has 18 studio albums, they know every verse and intently rap and sing along.
Having whipped the crowd into a suitable frenzy, Too Short and his posse of performers, hype men and dancers are ready to delight the crowds with a back to back finale of favourites 'I'm a Player' and 'Money In the Ghetto' and the massive cheers are wholly deserved for this celebrated artist.
I'm 42 years old and have been listening to Too Short for many many years and I love all of his music and I was very excited to see his concert. But I have to say that I was very disappointed. First when he got on stage he didn't seem interested in entertaining the crowd and seemed like he really didn't want to be there. He brought a bunch of random girls to dance on stage from the crowd and his show was extremely short. I think he sang 6 songs if that?? I wanted to hear more songs and I really felt like I got ripped off and didn't get my moneys worth. He just walked off stage and the concert was over. I was so confused and thought for sure he would come back out to perform more but I was wrong. The concert was over. My cousin who went also and I felt like it was a waist of time and money. Wish I didn't experience that because he is one of my favorite rappers
it was the coolest show I've ever seen in my life and I will see him again too short forever keep representing the west. and DJ Quik with sugar free tools to one stage was the coolest show ever seen in my life and I hope to see them again at the observatory DJ Quik too short thank you for coming and performing at the observatory.
The show was good, had a great view from the corner of the stage!!! Just didn't like that he didn't come on till after 1:30am and the club closed at 2:15am which made for a really short show. Idiots fighting didn't help that either though. Overall I had a good time though.
I'm an old school fan of too Short the show was fantastic he presented the whole East Oakland at its best I travel to out of Town event of too Short . I would love to hear song's from the tail of the 80's to the mid 90's cops and drug dealers riding music.
Disappointed!!!! Waited until 1 in the morning to hear one song. The club was pretty awesome though. Drinks well worth the money. Love Too Short always will but last night show was a RIP off and I came from San Diego to see him
the concert was postponed so I was unable to see the show still waiting for the new date time and location still can't wait to see too short with my very best friend I know that it will definitely gass

He is still the same as in when he first started his lyrics are the best he knows how to get the croud hype. I love his raps. I love him for being him much love an respect to him SHOT DOG
