  • Glenn Hughes

Glenn Hughes "The Voice of Rock".

This is no empty moniker! At the ripe old age of 66 Glenn is still kicking your ass without you realizing it!! Where as many of his contemporary peers are just kind of milking the "good old days" now with stale watered down versions of their heydays.

Glenn comes at you full throttled without coming off cheesy or out of place. You can tell he loves what he does (Bringing music to the people) and pulls it off still with all the soul, power, passion and swagger of musicians half his age, never mind those of his own age!!

Glenn and his band tore into classic Deep Purple (Mk III & IV) era material like it was still 1970 something and Glenn's voice is still right there at peak power and showed no sign of faltering thru to the very last song... amazing! His Bass playing on those Purple track kinda went un-noticed back then but, I was just amazed at his dexterity and phrasing on these songs watching from 5ft away.

He took every opportunity to praise his audience saying at one point "You didn't come to see me. I came to see you"!

Just a genuine performer who was lucky to make it out of the drug & booze fueled 70's with not only his voice and playing abilities intact but also his life!. He retains also, even at his age, just a touch of ego (not arrogance) that reminds you that He was, one of the "Big Boys" back in the heady days of Arena Rock and is a true Rock Star!

  • A great night of Rocking..Glenn opened up with Stormbringer followed by Might just take your life and then Sail away after that it just got better and better...a beautiful tribute to Tommy Bolin followed. The intensity of last night really brought it home with how Deep Purple Mark 3 and 4 were in their heyday..I love the Mark2 DP but i always thought Glenn on bass was always a bit special and that is not taking anything way from Roger Glover..Only one downer last night was that there wasnt any merchandise...10/10 for a great night...1/10 for no merchandise...

  • This was the second time I saw Glenn Hughes in concert and the first time since the release of his new album Resonate.

It is hard to find the words to describe this show. There is an overload of feelings that come to mind. Love, passion, energy, true rock. A superb band and Glenn? His voice is extraordinary. Such power, such emotions. This man is a gift to an audience. Stunning! Raw power, gentle melodies, all combined to put an audience in ecstacy. Loved every minute!

  • Was extremely disappointed..not in the fact that the show was bad, on the contrary, it was excellent! just in the fact that so many people didn't go to it! This was one of the legends, in my humble opinion, of rock and the Waterfront wasn't even half full. However, Glenn and his band played a fantastic set of Deep Purple songs, interacted with the crowd and in short produced a memorable gig... Shame on those who didn't give their support.

  • Good gig tonight at the Engine Rooms, Southampton watching Glenn Hughes. The man was on stage for 2 hours and can sing and play as well as ever, even if he’s a bit shot away bless him. A treat for Deep Purple fans, especially the last 3 numbers Smoke On The Water, Highway Star and of course Burn.

support act is Laurence Jones and is well worth seeing.

  • Great Performance and impressive drums solo. Glenn's age certainly does not affect his performance. Would definitely recommend this performance to anyone. Even bought the t-shirt and signed poster. Ten out of ten.
