Live reviews

  • Butcher Babies

This will be a short review since I'm writing it on my phone.

This was the third time I'd seen the Butcher Babies live and the first time while touring for their current album (Take it Like a Man). Although I prefer their previous album, I thought this was the best performance I'd seen them do. They didn't have a lot of room to work with since it was a small venue and they were the second opening act. Despite that, they did a great job moving around the stage, jumping off steps, etc to give a very dynamic performance. I was personally disappointed they didn't play more songs off Goliath, but at least they mixed in a couple of their older songs as well as one from their cover EP. It's tough to please everyone when you've only got a 10 song set. I liked that they kept the crowd engaged without resorting to such tired cliches as "Are you ready to rock?" For me, the best part of the show was probably when Heidi got into the crowd during the last song (Magnolia Blvd) and got in the center of the mosh pit and had the members run around her.

In summary, it was a great show and if you like metal, I highly recommend song these guys live!

  • The lights go completely down as the xx chromosome fronted Butcher Babies (yep, that is definitely their band’s name) take to the stage. They are absolutely terrifying, but in such a way that you just want to hear and see more of what they’re doing. They are so intriguing with their metalcore sound, which isn’t for the feint hearted. They’re all about their growls and screams, and then launching into their choruses complete with the largest hooks, left right and centre - as if their image didn’t draw you us all in enough!

It is no surprise to me whatsoever that they often get mistaken for being ex-playmates with their image, and of course they consider themselves “slut metal” as they wear some of the raunchiest clothing you’ve ever seen. Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, the pin up girls that front this band, in fairness, do the best job at commanding the audience throughout this electric set. All in all, they have some extremely catchy songs, as they play songs such as “Magnolia Boulevard”, which has the entire audience singing.

  • Butcher babies is my favorite band they are so down to earth me and my friend got to meet them at the end of their set the shook our hands and introduced themselfs they are very appreciative of there fans and they notice you. they talked to us about how we are crazy and dont care. They told us they wanted to see the pictures we took. The stage was smaller than most stages but butcher babies still fucked shit up like they wanted.during the first song Heidi came over to me held my hand and put the mic in my face to sing. About the third song I started crowd surfing I got up on stage 3 times everytime Heidi pulled me up. I got to hug her on stage a couple times and I got to sing Mongola Blvd with heidi on stage.I have had a dream of being on stage with butcher babies since I started listening to them.yesterday was truly a dream come true.

  • It seems Butcher Babies never disappoint. This was my second time seeing them and they sound even better and have even more energy in person. They create such an amazing atmosphere and make sure you lose your fucking mind and have a great time. They're also really nice and almost always stick around to meet with fans after the show. Definitely go see them if you get the chance, it's well worth it. My neck is a bit sore though...

  • Very good show. Tons of energy from the band. The sound wasn't very good, but that is to be expected from an opening act.I look forward to seeing them again in a smaller venue where they can have control over their sound.
