The deep voiced Ohio native, Joseph Arthur, brings to the table a moderately sized sound of just him, a guitar and an arsenal of effects pedals larger than your shoe collection. Using a mixture of reverbs, delays, choruses, flange and loop pedals, Arthur creates a large soundscape on the spot, right before your eyes. He very much rose to fame when his song “Honey and the Moon” featured on the pilot episode of award winning TV drama series, The O.C. When he sings this song, mid set in this performance, people are very much aware of it enough to sing along, however, it is in almost a respectful manner that they do so. Arthur is very clever with his loop pedal, and one of the interesting things about loop pedals, is that if you can use one to the caliber that he can, it is mesmerizing to watch someone do it on the spot. His lyrics are almost introspective, the way that they are versed. “Honey and the Moon” does just that.
Arthur cascades through his set, delivering beautiful one man show versions of his songs “Invisible Hands”, “In The Sun” and “You’re So True”. He is truly in a league of his own, and almost a hidden gem in the vast and endless ocean of singer-songwriters.
I have reviewed his performances and interviewed him on our radio show "The Indie Cafe"-he is a dynamic "visionary" musician-a A combination of a great musician/artist and he is followed by the famous in music! I designed 2 iconic albums for Lou Reed-Joseph's "LOU" album is a dynamic tribute to Lou Reed! His set at City Winery-nyc-was memorable to start the new year! Chuck Prophet opened for Joseph-a dynamic double bill I might add! They both did a cover of "Pale Blue Eyes"-a killer version!Joseph mixed his great songs with Lou Reed songs off his "LOU" album!I have followed Joseph for years and I have designed for the famous and "visionary" in music-Peter Gabriel discovered Joseph Arthur-Joseph is a GENIUS AT WORK!
I flew from Spain to London just to come to Joseph Arthur's concert. I'm so glad I did. It was definitely a magical night. From begining to end Joe rocked. You just can't get enough of him.
