  While I've never actually been to Warwick Avenue, Duffy's dedication to it as an ideal rendez-vous destination definitely piques my interest. Maybe it's her soft smooth sounding voice, or maybe it's the sheer power of her vocals which renders her army resembling orchestra to sound mere and minimalistic, that captivates her audience to focus their mesmerised eyes solely on her. Either way, we're transfixed. This soul-tastic singer songwriter hailing from Wales, was thrust directly into the limelight back in 2008 when her debut album Rockferry went straight to number one on the UK album chart. The album played home to hits such as the aforementioned, 'Warwick Avenue' and 'Mercy', along with landing her a Grammy Award for best pop vocal album. While her long string of success within the music industry certainly speaks for itself, no amount of awards can ready oneself for the feelings that will be induced when seeing this classic artist live. Performing at the Bataclan in Paris, this simple yet effortlessly chic entertainers set list ranged from her slower calmer hits such as 'Stepping Stone', to what appear to be audience pleasers like 'Distant Dreamer', going on to deliver her grand finale of fast tempo fan favourite 'Mercy'. Whether Duffy is clicking her fingers along to the beat of her foot tapping faster songs, or whether she's swaying on the spot, calming the audience with her more mellow ease inducing sounds, no one can deny the fact that this singers voice bears power that few other singers of her calibre can match.

• Young Welsh songstress Duffy won the hearts of the British public after releasing her ever so catchy “Mercy”. Her distinctive vocals make her instantly recognisable as she emulates an old American soul artist who has been playing for decades. Releasing her debut album “Rockferry” in 2008 after taking four years to create and perfect, the album was met with great acclaim and was the first step on the ladder of turning Duffy into a world-wide star. Between touring across the America’s and Europe playing a plethora of festivals such as: SXSW, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury and a string of television appearances, the nation has grown to love not only her music but her sweet nature.

  Her vintage yet contemporary style is refreshing and familiar at the same time. It’s astonishing that so much power can come from such a small lady as she belts out from the bottom of her heart. You really feel the emotional connection most when she sings ballads such as “Warwick Avenue” and “Distant Dreamer” and clearly the crowds are touched by this as they sway from side to side singing along. Duffy commands the stage as she sashays and dances whilst maintaining a vocal performance, almost reminiscent of a young Dolly Parton. Accompanied by a full band, the instruments perfectly compliment Duffy’s without causing too much distraction.

  A remarkable talent to watch, Duffy wins the hearts of all who witness the magic she performs.
