Live reviews

  • I saw Orbital live at Glastonbury, and man was it something else!

I was already eagerly anticipating this act, so I prepared myself well before they came on the maximize my enjoyment of the experience. Me and a friend started kicking back brews and lit up a few cigarettes to ensure a decent buzz. We conversed with various people in the area we were standing in, taking pictures and talking about bands that we enjoyed in common. We were somewhere in the middle of the crowd, not too close to the stage, but close enough to see the action decently.

As they took the stage, everyone started cheering loudly. We were excited. They had all sorts of lights and projectors set up. The droning commenced and it was like seizure took hold of the crowd. Everyone was dancing in a uniform motion to the thumping trance beats and complex synthetic melodies. This was over-stimulation at its finest and the buzz was stronger than ever after a few songs. Me and my friend bobbed through the whole set, which felt a lot longer than it was. Time almost stood still for an hour or so.

I would see Orbital again in a heartbeat!

  • As always an absolutely awesome set from Orbital, also from system 7, and Gentlem's dub club! Couldn't fault the the people, really chilled crowd. The organisers on the other hand... Interesting security guard in black uniform petroling the field with dogs? Seriously? Also on one of the hottest and longest days of the year, with an event that started at 4 in the afternoon, there where no signs for water, there was no freely availible water. The one bar initially told me that I couldn't have tap water. Then I hastily told by someone else that free water was availible, but on the other side of the racecourses. Having said all that it was still a really brilliant day.

  • I should really go...last time I saw Orbital live was New year's Day 1997 at Mount Universe Alexandra Palace in London along with about 15,000 others ravers!

I saw the New Year in listening to them play Chime to the strikes of Big Ben...awesome!!!!

Even weirder that night, despite living in London, girlfriend at the time (from Brid) bumped into someone she went to school with in the girls toilets...15k people what are the odds?! End of the night sat down very tired next to Sasha who'd done a huge set!

  • Waste of money and time, why anyone would tour playing nothing new, just a listening party for their album - plus everything they had come up with in 1990 replayed exactly how it was before. Everything was played way too loud, mostly just a bunch of bass and distorted sound, think a step above garage. They gave the US 3 stops, should have just skipped us by completely. Rubbish! I think they just added in the new album to their old set list. Zero creativity, save your money...

  • Orbital at their best! Haven't seen them since Tribal Gathering back in 97. The whole crowd dancing and Two encores. Fantastic.

Really good sound system at Bristol O2.

Hoping they release this as a Live album, most mixes far superior tho album versions.

    All your favorite tracks too.

  • Great show. Basically the same set list as Stockholm Kraken a month ago, and that's a good thing. Chime, Imapact, lots of Monsters. Lush for second encore was amped up for Brooklyn Steel and much more intense than Sthlm.

  • Awesome show - brilliant sounds as ever, and fantastic light show. They really do know how to get the crowd buzzing!

It was a privilege to be at one of the only 2 indoor shows this year.
