Why this band didn't become a sensation in Scotland, rather than just achieve a cult following, is beyond me?
Great songs, with fantastic hook lines, talented musicians and a top front man in Martin Metcalfe.
The show bounded on from start to finish and the capacity crowd at the Barrowlands certainly did their bit to create an electric atmosphere. From the opening salvo of 'Open your Arms' until the closing song 'Now we are Married' their was no let up in the pace. Highlights were aplenty but the exhilarating 'Rattler' was worth the admission fee alone.
Hope the reaction of the public to this tour will make the band a more familiar sight in venues throughout the land. I'll be there next time for sure!
Best band so many South of the Scottish border have never had the unique pleasure of hearing and seeing. Mainly due to shit management and dumb record companies who never recognised their true global potential which was only partially realised after Shirley from garbage who learnt her stagecraft over 10 years with the Mackenzies gave a hint of. Do not miss this band who sold out the barrowlands at the end of their first triumphal reunion tour at Xmas 2019. These songs don't age they are all classics as good now as they were on first listen in the mid to late 80s and early to mid 90s.
Absolutely fantastic show again! Caught them in Dunfermline earlier in the year, one of the best gigs I’ve been too, and the Barras didn’t disappoint either. All the favourites played The Rattler nearly took the roof off! Gems like Green turn Red , Here comes Deacon Brodie, the eponymous Goodbye Mr MacKenzie, and the brilliant His Masters Voice! Just one of the best of the late eighties early nineties bands in the UK never mind Scotland and they haven’t missed a step still! Good banter frae Martin, even a wee song from the legend Big John! Just a great night

The band sounded great. The atmosphere was superb. My only complaint/disappointment was that they only played for an hour. I had hoped for much more, especially with their extensive back catalogue. I would have happily paid double or more if they had played for longer. An intermission would have made it less arduous on the band and helped bar sales.
I will still go and see them again if I have the opportunity
The band were superb. The venue was superb. Can fault anything about the experience. I hope to see Goodbye Mr MacKenzie in the future. Even better if it’s at the Barrowlands.
