I got Drunk and I got Stoned! That’s pretty the most accurate description of the crowd and Grinspoon when I saw them at Big Day Out back in 2005. Their vibe and their energy was just great, they really know how to fire up a crowd. I personally really enjoyed the real deep resounding guitar solos and riffs more than anything. The guitarist could really shred. Though it is apparent that they have slowed down a bit over the years, it is also apparent that Grinspoon can still bring the heat as they really just crushed it. They had me captivated from the beginning of 1000 miles all the way to their closer Black Friday.
What Grinspoon show is complete without an INXS cover, of course they would throw in Don’t change. If you haven’t seen Grinspoon by now you are truly missing out on a legendary band. I really have been disappointed by the Big Day Out lineup the last couple of years, but Grinspoon is always a highlight, this year was no exception. I would however caution that these dudes are loud, if you can’t handle the craziness upfront do everyone that can a favor and back up, let the crazy be crazy. Outstanding band, have seen them numerous times would see again, highly recommend.
