He has is an experienced, award-winning journalist who previously served as correspondent in Japan (1996-2003), China (2003-2012) and Brazil (2012-2017). He has written extensively on climate change, deforestation, pollution and the trade in environmental stress on travels that have taken him from the Amazon and Andes to the Gobi and Himalayas.
