Debriefings for Youth

Debriefings for youth as they navigate the loss of a friend by suicide

In the unfortunate event that a youth completes suicide, the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas is here to offer crucial support to teens. The impact of such a tragedy can be profound, leaving those left behind grappling with intense feelings of guilt, anger, and confusion. Often, survivors, especially adolescents, struggle to make sense of the loss and may experience a deep emotional crisis. This situation can even lead some to contemplate suicide themselves, exacerbating their suffering.

Understanding and addressing the emotional aftermath of a youth suicide is challenging, particularly for teens who may struggle with the complex emotions involved. Our team of volunteers is dedicated to helping youth navigate grief, confusion, and loss and providing them with the necessary tools to move forward.

Our Texas Crisis Center facilitates debriefing support groups specifically designed for youth, offered within schools and community organizations. These groups are structured to help adolescents process their feelings, understand the tragedy, and receive support from peers and trained counselors.
