What to Know

Critics Consensus

Stylish and genuinely scary, Teacup's human drama has some spillage but the atmospheric frights of this horror series leave a pleasing aftertaste.

Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic 'Teacup' isn't horrible. It's just too long. Oct 14, 2024 Full Review Daniel Fienberg Hollywood Reporter It’s a puzzle not because the characters are trying to figure things out, but because the creators are being evasive and hoping viewers will nod and play along. Oct 11, 2024 Full Review Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting McCulloch’s careful plotting and effective atmospherics pay off, resulting in an intense, rewarding inaugural season. Oct 11, 2024 Full Review Marco Vito Oddo We Got This Covered 'Teacup' offers an intense horror experience in compact half-hour episodes, skillfully building suspense and maintaining mystery. However, the series' abbreviated format limits character development and exploration of its paranoia-inducing premise. Rated: 3/5 Oct 15, 2024 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network I would have liked some more concrete answers by the end of the season, but I am bought into sticking with this story wherever it goes next. Rated: 7/10 Oct 15, 2024 Full Review Erik Kain Forbes Teacup is off to a scary start with a cast of complicated characters I want to learn more about and a mysterious and terrifying threat rapidly descending upon this quiet rural refuge. Andre M Absolute thrill to watch! I'm hooked. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Laura L Brilliant! Well written and some of my favorite actors! Yvonne is fantastic as always! Nice to see Kathy too. Not as familiar with the other cast members but they are doing a fantastic job as well. We were trying to figure out the blue line & the guy in the mask. Friend or Foe? Believe him when he says don’t cross the blue line! We have had many discussions over pieces of the first 2 episodes which speaks to the writing that draws you in and the actors bring it home. Well done ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Yulia L Suspense delivered in a fast-paced package. The bow on top is the top notch acting from the cast. Interpersonal relations are magnified by a sci-fi storyline. If you haven’t seen John Carpenter films (you’re prob young) this is a good homage to him. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Mike W I thought this was a good first episode. Anytime you need to introduce all new characters things can bog down while setting up the story. I enjoyed this first episode more than i expected. There is already chemistry between Strahovski/Maggie and her onscreen children and the turmoil between her and her mother in-law played by Kathy Baker/Ellen with some funny moments as well. I am looking forward to the next episode. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Kate G I was happy to see Yvonne Strahovski & Kathy Baker again. So far, so good after episide 2. If I know that a child is going to be harmed in some way I usually don't touch it. Had I known the little boy was going to have some difficulties I would have skipped out all together - does give me pause. Keep your ears and eyes open for all of the foreshadowing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Doug S Dreadful writing and continuity aimed to sink this in the first episode but the full brutal impact of the mystery by the end of the second episode has me very intrigued and I'll continue. First rate cast working with a pretty bad dialog script but I'll try not to hurt myself with the eye rolling. Thrilled to see Kathy Baker back!
