PIFFF 2024 - The Retro-Cult Screening

Posted on 07/11/24

Calling all retro lovers, cinephiles of every background, and fans of all generations—dive into the 2024 lineup of cult screenings at PIFFF!

For a taste of bold, provocative cinema, don’t miss Flesh for Frankenstein (1974) by Paul Morrissey. Produced by Andy Warhol, this film offers a unique take on the Frankenstein myth, with a generous dash of blood and sensuality. It’s a pure pleasure of exploitation cinema, presented in 3D and in its newly restored version.

Our journey into the cult classics of the 2000s literally continues with Neil Marshall's The Descent (2005) on 35mm. And who better to lead us through the shadowy depths of suspense than the director himself? He’ll be joining us at Max Linder Panorama for a special screening and introduction!

The Descent

Prepare yourself for a high-charisma, full-thrills screening with also the 35mm projection of Demolition Man (1993) by Marco Brambilla. We’re hearing that the director might even attend to reveal the mystery of the Three Seashells... (to be confirmed).

To create this unique selection, we enlisted the help of our very own master of the genre, director and screenwriter Nicolas Boukhrief. For his exclusive feature, he’ll be presenting The Last Cannibal World (1977) by Ruggero Deodato, in a beautifully restored 4K copy—a perfect entry point into the world of cannibal films.

PIFFF fans and devotees of Hong Kong action, prepare yourselves: Police Story 3 (1992) by Stanley Tong returns to Max Linder Panorama in a fully restored 4K version. This complete cut offers an ideal showcase for Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh at their absolute best!
