Spanish Version Database — O*NET 4.0

The Spanish version of the O*NET 4.0 database was developed by Aguirre International for the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) under an O*NET technical support contract. The Spanish O*NET database maintains the same format and file structure as the English 4.0 version. This was done to facilitate incorporation of O*NET information into Spanish language occupational information systems and applications. DOL has no current plans to develop a Spanish language version of the O*NET OnLine application.

The translation process included extensive review by a variety of professional experts:

  • Review of the accuracy and utility of the translation was accomplished through focus group sessions held in California, Texas, Florida, New York and Puerto Rico. Group participants had diverse Spanish language backgrounds and professional workforce development expertise.
  • Bilingual, bicultural industrial-organizational psychologists also reviewed and evaluated the translation to ensure its validity by matching the word choice with the already validated English version of the O*NET database.
The Spanish version of the O*NET 4.0 Database is available under a Creative Commons license. See the Database license page for more information.
