MINEYE - Earth observation techniques for mine life cycle monitoring

The MINEYE project aims to optimize European mining operations by addressing the entire mining value chain, from explorations to mine closure. The project will develop tools for visualization and decision-making, supported by dynamic updates of Earth Observation data and knowledge using machine learning and digital twin technologies.

Seagreen - foundation installation for the world's deepest offshore wind farm

Huge buckets, silently sucked into the seabed with the opening down, keep the wind turbines on the Seagreen field off the east coast of Scotland in place on the seabed. Together with FRAMO, NGI had the task of installing the bucket foundations on the 114 jacket substructures for the wind turbines.

PIGS - Piling in Glauconitic Sand Joint Industry Project (JIP)

Limited experience with glauconitic soil conditions introduces significant uncertainty in pile-driving predictions for jacket piles and monopiles. The Joint Industry Project (JIP) Piling in Glauconitic Sand (PIGS) aims to address the uncertainties arising from the behavior of such soils around piles.

NGI and NIVA help Latvia clean up after Soviet naval fleet

In the highly polluted Karosta Canal in Liepaja in Latvia, NIVA and NGI are helping local port authorities clean up the most contaminated areas. NGI is engaged in a feasibility study to assess the most environmentally friendly and economical future handling of the dredged, polluted sediments placed in a limited part of the canal.

Increased Demand for Dam Safety Expertise – NGI Establishes a Dedicated Department for Dam Safety

Climate change, high safety requirements, new knowledge, and a backlog in maintenance mean that many dams, both domestically and internationally, need new safety assessments and upgrades. NGI – the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute has now established a dedicated department for dam safety.
