Monster Horror Movie: Plot, Release Date, Cast - Netflix Tudum
- The Indonesian film follows two children attempting to flee a dangerous kidnapper.By Ingrid OstbyMay 17, 2024
Besides shouting each other’s names, the young leads in director Rako Prijanto’s film Monster barely speak a word. It’s up to the audience to interpret what they’re going through — being abducted and taken to a desolate house, where they must fend off their depraved captor and escape by any means necessary. The Indonesian film, a reimagining of the 2020 American horror movie The Boy Behind the Door, stars Anantya Kirana, Sultan Hamonangan, and Alex Abbad.

What happens in Monster?
Best friends Alana (Kirana) and Rabin (Hamonangan) are hanging out after grade school, biking around town and playing games at an arcade. They don’t realize a suspicious man, later identified as Jack (Abbad), is following close behind in a black sedan. Alana rounds a corner to look for Rabin, who’s gone on ahead. She sees the unfamiliar car and hears banging from inside the trunk. Rabin? In a flash, Jack captures her, throws her in the back beside Rabin, and drives off. Jack takes them, blindfolded with hands tied, to a house in the middle of nowhere. He locks Rabin in one of the rooms, leaving Alana trapped in the trunk. She manages to free herself and escape … until she realizes she can’t leave her friend behind. Alana goes back to try to save Rabin. But how long can she go unnoticed by their depraved captor?
