Portal Remastered is a mod that attempts to remaster the original portal in the portal 2 engine. The models, textures and lighting have all been updated to be more in line with the style of portal 2 while making sure the levels still retain somewhat of a Portal 1 vibe.

After over a year of waiting, update 0.4 is here and it contains the first part of the escape (from test chamber 19 to just past where you re-enter test chamber 9). While Escape Part 1 is very close to completion, it's still subject to change with further updates so let me know your thoughts. This update also includes bug fixes and lighting tweaks for the previous Test Chambers.

Hows the next version going? We're close to the end of this 'remaster'!
Getting there slowly. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done on Escape P2 and there's a lot of things stylistically I need to figure out. Might take me another couple months, or longer. My predictions on how long these updates take me to get out have been pretty bad.

Hey, I tried this mod out a while back on I think it was last version that was released and I found it to be amazing..
Although I had stopped frequently checking I still drop into the page every now and then to see if there are any updates for it..
Low and behold I drop in a few weeks ago and see the update for the Escapre pt1 released, I aint gonna play this until the full release because I wanna save the rest of the experience for when its finished but you know..
I dont know if I mentioned it in a previous comment but I tried this in VR and it functions well but the portal gun is a bit weird where you can still see both player model arms and was just wondering if you would know of a way to fix this potentially or if there is a chance you would look into that..

I'm probably gonna add proper vr support before release. Next update will have part 2 of 4 of the escape sequence; still have a ways to go on that one tho.
Oh heck yeah, I have sworn to not play this until release ever since I played it once through flatscreen and a small vr test session both back on v3.1 and I know it will be a while till release but I know patience when absolutely necessary.. XD

For all my homies running this in linux you need to run portal 2 through proton
I keep getting a "Setup file ‘Gameinfo.txt” doesn't exist in subdirectory" error. howed you get past this?
How do I install it? I extracted it to my sourcemods folder, yet it doesn't work in tandem with Portal 2 when I try to run Portal 2,
It should appear in your Steam games library with the rest of your games. If it's not there try restarting Steam by clicking on the "steam" drop-down menu in the top left corner, then clicking "exit"; when you reopen steam it should be there.
