MCCC pre-alpha release

News

betaoniface VIII was elected Pope on 24 December 1294.

In the middle of his reign (1300) Boniface VIII proclaimed the first ! Jubilee, although the common people in those days considered this tradition to be older, going back at least to Innocent III in 1200.
Pope Clement VI appointed the next Jubilee already in 1350, and nowadays Jubilees occur every 25 years, so the next year — is a Jubilee.

For this reason, MCCC-mod is published today.

Period: 1299–1333, the era of prosperity before the Great Plague.

In 1299, Arabic numerals were banned in Florence, so Latin letters were used to write ‘1300’: MCCC

Duas Ecclesiam

The war between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines in Italy did not end even after Manfred's defeat in 1266. In addition to the respective factions, this confrontation is reflected in ideology (religion) with the option of ‘сrusade’ against the opposing party. Just as religions were replaced by nations in the Britannia campaign, here they are replaced by political parties.

RELIABILITY

Thousands of images of constructions, plastics, wall paint and designs from the XIII–XIV centuries were drawn upon when working on the MCCC-mod.

Pope Boniface VIII patronised the arts, so there are many lifetime images of him. On the basis of them, the unique hat of the Pope, the Tiara, which Boniface topped with two crowns as a sign of power, both spiritual and secular, has been recreated in mod:

Cardinals wear the Galero, the red hat, which the Pope has granted them since the First Council of Lyons in 1245.

In favor of greater historicity and realism, the following have been changed: seas, rivers, forests, mountains. The changes (almost) do not concern coordinates...
