ResidentEvil-inspired modification, featuring basic mechanics from classic RE games, such as static camera, inventory, tank controls and more... Players find themselves in a mysterious mansion, full of zombies, headcrabs and other dangers. With limited inventory and movement, escaping the residence of evil horrors will not be an easy task.

This mod had potential, yet it was marred by the terrible camera and aiming system. I cannot even attack the legless zombies or headcrabs with firearms, forcing me to use the crowbar and likely suffer damage in the process. The worst offender is the Antlion boss sequence. The camera constantly moves around and sometimes will even shake and twist when the Antlion rams towards the garage. Although the camera movement is minorly better in the Zombine final boss battle at the chopper, defeating him is nigh impossible unless one brings a spare flare. Even then, use it for the 2nd phase; doing so in the 1st phase breaks the mod, as it instantly kills the final boss, surpassing Phase 2.

Also, sometimes when I enter different camera scenes, the player will auto-move forward, or when getting hit by an enemy, he will rotate the wrong direction.

Just because this mod is inspired by Resident Evil does not mean you have to transfer the original series' worst aspects and features.

Despite all of this, I would have recommended only a single playthrough if the Antlion and Zombine bosses were not plagued by the terrible camera movement (especially the former).

I very barely managed to complete the mod (and at Danger level health), yet it did not truly feel like an enjoyable victory (rather just a plain relief). Can't believe I wasted my night and sleep for this...

gives me the spooks

Awesome Mod!!!

Great to see something with camera setup different from usual 1st, 3rd person or 2.5D most games are made these days.

Good level design with interesting variety of locations and situations which adapt mechanics from Half-Life 2 to Resident Evil style gameplay.

Camerawork is nice, and dynamic camera during the boss fight was an excellent and unexpected surprise.

Animation of door that opens on black background returns here, and it's a great idea to show it only the first time you open a door. That prevents it from playing too often and getting old.

The maze with monster that instakills you takes too much effort to complete. Navigating the map is hard enough in itself (even when I made a screenshot of it and placed it on another monitor), and then the monster tends to appear right on your path. Some things should be considered that would make the place (and the game in general) more enjoyable to get through:

* Checkpoint savegames after using every important lever and taking every important item (using separate slots from radio manual saves);
* Monster runs away and disappears for a short while if it starts burning;
* Checkpoint savegame after boss introduction cutscene so you don't have to watch it again if the boss kills you.

Dude got inspired just by one game and decided to make a source mod out of it, nothing impressive, nothing outstanding, nothing interesting, this can be done (if it wasn't already) in GoldSource so I don't see much purpose for this to exist, it's just there to express author's 2-hour long fixation about classic Resident Evil and nothing else.

AWESOME !!

This was the hardest HL2 mod I've ever played and I made the mistake to play it on Hard. On the final fight I gave up and switched to Easy. Also, the challenges are... a real challenge.

Overall the quality is superb, but because of the difficulty and the outdated classic Resident Evil gameplay and mechanics, I had a mixed experience during the playthrough.

Try this unique work of art with the Source engine!

Gotta say that this unusual mod as such I get used to. Side third person mode, inventory, item-save system, I guess? Rotate camera in the first time can be uncomfy.

This mod reminded of another mod - The Forgotten Ones. There too only with item can savin'. Same old school style in it, like in here. And sometimes been hard.

heyy resident evil say hello

not bad

Another fun experiment from creator of Modding Bleeds. You don't see mods like this every day. It's kinda insane what people can do with this engine sometimes.

Of course it's not perfect, but the issues I had with it were so minor that it didn't really take me out of the experience, it actually gave me more of that "janky oldschool survival horror experience", which was very accurate to original Resident Evil games from PS1.

Some people mentioned the AI-generated voices used in the dialogue, but personally I think they are fine, they do their job and it's not the same level of bad text-to-speech we had years ago.

Now to the annoying stuff. There was a section with a tunnel that has large fast zombie torso that one-hit-kills you, it's certainly a challenging part, but having to reload multiple times was kinda bothering me. To be fair, it's a part of original survival horror experience, so it's not impossible, just very difficult.

Next thing that annoyed me was the boss fight with Antlion Guard (nice dynamic camera with npc_cscanner, btw!). Then there is that super long and boring ladder climbing after the Antlion Guard. I had to use host_timescale and stopsound, because that song from MGS really annoyed me, sorry :]

The last thing I would list as a negative point is the zombie sounds taken from Left 4 Dead, they just don't fit in this mod, imho; So replaced them with the original zombie sounds from RE1 on my end.

So yeah. Despite all negative points I mentioned, it's a very fun and unique mod.
