Carnivores Clathrate Progress Report 8/31/2024 news

Hello everyone, welcome to Clathrate"s second progress report! So as you can see from the the updated banners on Moddb, there has been major updates for this month, so hope you like the things you see and let"s begin!

Textures

So, beginning with textures. All of the main huntables have been textured, but are still colorless. Since I"m done with the main huntables" textures, I can now move to the main ambient creature"s now. Hopefully I can get their textures done by the end of September.

Since the last progress report, quite of bit of new creatures have been added to the roster, so let"s reveal them!

Dire Wolf

Here"s the Dire Wolf"s new design. The Dire Wolf will be a pack hunting map ambient on the 1st map and isn"t as aggressive as other predators found in the Eemian Sector, but if startled, it can be very deadly. The Dire Wolf will also have a pack leader variant.

Basilosaurus

The Basilosaurus is one of the largest creatures found in the Eemian Sector. It has been observed to be aggressive to humans and other marine life, but is quite rare to find, but be careful in the waters of the Eemian Sector.

Dorudon

The Dorudon is another whale species found in the Eemian sector. Like the Basilosaurus, it has been observed to be dangerous to humans, but not as aggressive as the Basilosaurus. Dorudon has also been seen more often than the Basilosaurus, making it more common. They are also usually seen in pairs, making it a unique sight to see.

Mammalodon

The Mammalodon is one of the smallest whales found in the Eemian sector. Like the Basilosaurus and Dorudon, it has shown to be aggressive towards humans, but luckily, its the least aggressive whale species in the Eemian sector. It"s also a very social creature, being found in pods up to five.

Cave Lion

The Cave Lion is one of the larger land carnivores in the Eemian sector (Said Carnivores! Let"s get back on track.) Unlike its Earth counterpart, the Cave Lion was actually a bit larger than the Smilodon due to how bulky it is compared to its saber toothed cousin. Due to its larger size and bulkiness, it can defend itself well, when fighting other creatures, like the Cave Bear and the apex predator himself, the Barinasuchus.

Hunter

Since the base Carnivores Ice Age hunter is just a simple reskin of the Carnivores 2 hunter, I decided to do a model edit to the hunter, so he looks like he isn"t gonna freeze to death.

As of right now, the hunter has no textures yet, but his rig is complete, which means, I can make custom kill animations for the creatures.

In-Game Stuff and First Map

Now for the moment you are probably waiting for, the first map!

This is the first map for Clathrate, Knight"s Desert, named after my favorite retro paleo artist and made by nocdemental. Knight"s Desert will be the first map you unlock in Clathrate due to its easy terrain, but is not entirely safe, due to its unpredictable wild-life.

Now for the in-game stuff, sadly there are no new creatures that have been implemented in-game, but currently me and Oakey are working on Diatryma to be the next creature to work in-game

I also did some edits to the Titanotherium. Titanotherium now spawns in herds up to three.

Anymore stuff

Right now, I"m working on the weapon roster for Clathrate. I"m not gonna reveal the weapons yet, but there will be three weapons in the first version. The weapon roster will be revealed in the next progress report and hopefully, the weapons will be already modeled by then.
