My major is social science. Although my focus isn"t on Religious studies, I guess that would explain my interests in the topic. :D

Religion in general, then yes people usually have an image of it. Maybe I"m too much confined by the system of clarity and the needs to define anything clearly before discussing it. If you wished to leave the understand on religion open then it"s fine, it"s just some bad habit of mine, problems tends to rise in a debate or writings when we leave the term in abstraction. I can go into quite a detail on this if you wanted but by this point its seems irrelevant.

And no, I"m no developer but a senior in a university. At the moment, I"m just overwhelmed by the amount of readings being assigned and papers to be written. I do check this site, but not quite irregularly unless there are comments to be replied to or something happened in a group/mods I"ve followed.

Yes, perhaps most people know what religion means or maybe at least the concept of it but my experiences with social sciences taught me that sometimes people tends to have their own understanding of the concept. Fixed definition maybe quite tricky but at least I think it would be nice to establish some common features of what a "religion" is. From what I can deduct so far, it"s an interesting take on the term "polytheism" that I"m not quite expected, polytheism in a sense doesn"t implies multiples religion but instead convey the type of theism in which characterized by a worship or belief in multiples deities, if speak strictly in etymological sense (or I could say sociological sense).

I"m quite concern about the focus of the term polytheism applied here, as we presumed that people tends to have some kind of supernatural belief (I"m not using metaphysical belief here), there are some other alternative dialog that would be beneficial to consider but outweighed by the focus on supernatural beliefs and under the assumption that people still need religion.

Myself, currently don"t have enough time to go into more details or read articles critically, at least not yet, gaming is one serious business and my assigned readings are piling. I"ll get back here if I came up with something interesting to discuses.

ps. btw I"m not being critical here or anything but I do think you need to work on the citation, wikipedia may not be enough for referencing if you (or the writer) planned to cover the topics seriously. Maybe add some more articles on defining some basic concept such as "religion", some mutual understanding may have to be established first before going into details.
