A long road lies ahead for us and we have many new things in store for you in 2025. New dragons, new mechanics, new adventures and new lands to explore!

Hello Draconians!

Another year is slowly coming to an end, but it honestly feels like it started just a few months ago, with so much happening in such a short time. A lot has been worked on over the past 12 months, but there is even more waiting for us in 2025 and we are genuinely excited to work on the new things we have planned for Draconia!
If you’ve read our latest dev blog on Steam, you already know some of what’s in the works. But for those who haven’t, here is a quick summary of what we have planned, at least for the first half of the new year:

Complete Combat Rework
1) Camera Handling: We are making some much-needed changes to our character cameras and you can already see a sneak peek of these in the video below.
2) Movement and Momentum: Updates to the character movement include new options like evasive maneuvers and the ability to move backward.
3) Ability System: We are reworking our ability system to fit with the improved camera, movement, and upcoming skill trees.

Character Creator 2.0

A completely new customization and saving system, including the ability to rename your characters.
A database wipe to make way for this and future systems. Unfortunately, this means all existing characters, their progress, structures, and old models (unless they are reworks or final versions) will be permanently removed.

We plan to include the Wyvern, new Euro, Griffin, Lindworm, and Ka’sai in the new character creator when it is ready. The Dragon Turtle and new Eastern Dragon might make it too, but it depends on how much work the system requires.

Characters
1) Quetzalcoatl: Our final main character is being modeled and should be finished in early 2025.
2) Customization: Once the Quetz is complete, our modelers will shift their focus to creating more customization options for all characters, like different heads, wings, horns, and limbs. You will need to unlock these in-game, so the initial customization options will be limited when you are creating your first character(s).
3) Textures and Skins: Our texture artists will be working on default skins for the new models and additional skins you can unlock later.

Map Development
The second island is currently our biggest focus in level design. It’s the most complex area we have planned so far, and we are doing everything we can to make solid progress. If all goes well, it should open for player building next year, though we will keep refining it where it is needed.

More NPCs, Story, Quests
You will see new NPCs and get more quests to complete.
There will be more huntable NPCs, with Dragon Turtles next on the list as their animations and sounds are completed.

What comes after depends on how many challenges - like bug fixes or unexpected obstacles - we face. But we are hoping to focus on Nesting and the addition of the Skill Trees.

We hope you have a wonderful transition into the new year! It has been an amazing journey so far, and we are grateful for all the support you have shown us throughout the year.

We will keep working hard on Draconia and share our progress with you along the way!

Take care and see you in 2025!
