A wardrobe closet from the Metro Kingdom Crazy Cap store in Super Mario Odyssey.

Wardrobe closets,[1] or simply wardrobes,[1] appear as objects that can be used to change Mario's clothing in Super Mario Odyssey. They are red-and-white wardrobes shaped like hats, with a gold outline and small hat-shaped handles. A wardrobe closet is present aboard the Odyssey, and one can be found in the yellow side of the Crazy Cap store in most kingdoms. All Crazy Cap stores that are not inside a building lack a wardrobe closet, a clause that is applicable to the stores in the Cap Kingdom, Cascade Kingdom, Wooded Kingdom, and Seaside Kingdom.

Wardrobe closets can be opened by pressing A Button when Mario is close to one, allowing him to access all of the hats and suits that he has obtained. In the outfit menu, Mario can mix and match hats and suits from different outfits. Alternatively, when Y Button is pressed for the Random option, Mario changes into a random combination of a hat and suit from the wardrobe, and his outfit re-shuffles after he loses all of his health points and respawns.

Wardrobe closets also serve as the lists for both hats and suits. Both of these categories have the total number Mario owns of that type displayed on the right side of the screen. Unlike most other trackers, the maximum number of hats and suits is not shown. The numbers still turn yellow and have a star icon displayed once the player has obtained every item in that category, excluding any special hats and suits added to the game through updates.
