The Stapler is a Thing in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It is obtained within The Enigmansion in a rather strange way. As Mario is walking through the east hallway, the stapler suddenly bursts through one of the windows, startling him. It fires staples frantically before wearing down and falling still on the floor, allowing Mario to collect it. It remains in Mario's Album until it is turned into a sticker at a Sling-a-Thing station. Once it has been used as a sticker, it returns here, simply lying in the middle of the hallway. It can also be purchased from the Shady Toad for 150 coins.

As a sticker, the stapler takes up four squares in Mario's album. If used in a battle, the enemies freeze, allowing the stapler to pin them down with multicolored staples. In addition to dealing a fair amount of damage, the stapler also prevents the enemies from attacking for a couple of turns, similar to the Tape and Thumbtack.

The stapler can also be placed into the Sticker Museum as #55, alongside similar Things. Its description mentions its practical use, although in a very elaborate way. Another description explains this in a much more simple manner.

The stapler comes in handy during the first phase of the Bowser battle in Bowser's Sky Castle. It can be used in addition to the Thumbtack or Tape to keep the doors in the background closed, preventing Bowser from summoning any new enemies.
