Spangle, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Bowser's Minions

Spangle is a small pinkish Starkiss encountered in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Bowser's Minions. He carries a tiny electric guitar and a pair of sunglasses. He does not have the usual facial expression that Starkisses have, however. His name is directly based on "spangle", which is the meaning for any small, sparkling object, and along with his species may be a play on The Star-Spangled Banner, the national anthem of the United States.

Before the events of the game, Spangle was a famous starfish guitar player that came to Gwarhar Lagoon a year ago, though prior to Mario and Luigi finding him, he had not seen anyone ever since. He asks the brothers if there was a place he could stand on that would suit him, like a festive tree. Mario and Luigi know of such a place, and Spangle is placed in their suitcase until they find it. The two come back to Hermie III, who wanted something to replace the Beanstar piece that was formerly on top of his tree. They show him Spangle, who notices Hermie's tree, and jumps on top of it. Hermie was so delighted about his newfound decoration, and gives the brothers the Soulful Bros. badge as a reward.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Bowser's Minions, he is depicted as a highly-saturated scarlet instead of the off-pink he was originally. Spangle appears in the Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser mode, in the level Spangle's Honey Pie. He asks Captain Goomba to save Starlow (who he refers to as his "honey pie") from Hermie III. After Starlow is freed, Spangle asks for a hug, causing her to knock him away. He later appears during Wendy's "cutie battle contest", where he is part of the group known as the Star Angels along with Starlow and two Starkisses. The group wins the contest after Wendy joins Captain Goomba's squad.
