Former CTO of OpenAI, Mira Murati is now raising $100 million for her own AI startup. According to Inc., TechCrunch, and Reuters, her startup will focus on building AI products using proprietary models. With Mira's track record, this could be the next big thing in tech! Mira left Open AI in September 2024 and shared on X “to create the time and space to do my own exploration.” Before joining OpenAI in 2018, Mira worked at Tesla and Leap Motion. Mira Murati is a trailblazing tech leader. She joined OpenAI in 2018 eventually becoming CTO, leading groundbreaking projects like #ChatGPT, DALL-E, and #Sora. On September 25, Mira announced her departure from the CTO role "to create time and space to do her own exploration." I want to take a moment to celebrate her achievements. She’s been widely recognized: 🏆 Time's 100 Most Influential People in AI (2024) 🏆 Ranked 57th on Fortune's Most Powerful Women (2023) 🏆 Honorary Doctor of Science from Dartmouth College the list goes on... Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella praised Mira "ability to assemble teams with technical expertise, commercial acumen, and a deep appreciation for the importance of mission". Her blend of leadership and technical expertise has set a high bar. I'm excited to see what’s next for Mira! One thing is certain: Mira has made a huge impact and continues to be a major inspiration and role model for women in tech! 🚨The AI world is about to change. Mira Murati, CTO and creator of #ChatGPT is leaving OpenAI. After an impressive six-and-a-half years of leading innovation in AI. Born in Albania, Mira has always been driven by curiosity for technology which eventually led her to the heart of Silicon Valley. Mira came to OpenAI believing that AI would “be the most important set of technologies that humanity has ever built”. Now, she steps away to "create time and space to do my own exploration." But what comes next for OpenAI? Is this the end of female tech leadership at OpenAI, or just the start of a new chapter? Curious to hear your thoughts.
