About us

Women in Sales Execution formerly Gals & SALs was started in 2017 with the intention of recruiting, retaining and promoting more womxn on the Outreach.io XDR team with the ultimate goal of reaching a 50/50 split of men and womxn on the team. Initially, it began as a happy hour when a small hiring class that included 3 women effectively doubled the number of women on our sales development team. SDR leadership and recruiting was eager to make our new teammates feel welcome and supported. Quickly, the board of directors realized that Happy Hour, while fun, was no way to sustainably retain top talent and that there would need to be active opportunities to network, build relationships and foster professional development in order to increase gender representation in a meaningful way. As a result, happy hours began to include an activity of some kind (like paint and sip or terrarium building), and a guest speaker who was a female, executive level sales leader. During the event, our guest would share their experience from the board room, network with our team and enjoy each other’s company in a warm and welcoming environment. The ultimate goal here was to provide a non-intimidating entry into “networking with execs,” in an internal-only setting for our womxn who were largely fresh out of school or very early in their career. The initiative gained momentum and became a quarterly event and has continued (save for a brief hiatus during the pandemic) since 2017. Our goal is to support an equal presence on the team with the target of 50% Womxn. We will continue to dedicate our efforts to reaching and maintaining this goal.
