Our Executive Director, Lee Lowry, and more than 30 ULI Tampa Bay members attended a fun, impactful #ULIFall Meeting in Las Vegas last week! From meeting with the members of the cohorts of ULI’s Homeless to Housed program to hearing from keynote speakers and our new Global CEO Angela Cain to having fun with colleagues at the spectacular Sphere, it was an incredible time for connecting and learning. We also celebrated being named #4 for projected growth in 2025 by PwC in their annual Emerging Trends in Real Estate report! #ULITampaBay #ULIFallMeeting #LasVegas #ETRE

A coastal population center of more than 3 million people, Florida’s Tampa Bay region is among North America’s most vulnerable to climate change. We have a Technical Assistance Panel report that reviews the ways to instill climate resilience at your company. The three main findings were: 1. Integrate resilience goals and decision making throughout all functions of city government and across agencies. Make resilience a core value of the city’s capital budgeting process. 2. Invest in infrastructure that yields multiple benefits, from hardening physical assets to connecting neighborhoods, and contributing to the health and prosperity of all residents. 3. Identify new messengers and create an inclusive communications strategy so that all residents, particularly those in vulnerable areas, understand climate risks and opportunities. With 24 teams competing for the 4ft, inaugural, golden Urban Smashdown: Pickleball Showdown trophy, there were sweat, winces, smiles, and cheers! It was truly an incredible turnout with nearly 100 of the leading urban land use professionals. We also sold out of our sponsorships for the event! We raised over $20,000 in funds for ULI Tampa Bay's Young Leaders Group (YLG) scholarships. Thank you to all who attended and participated in this energetic display of pickleball skills and opportunity to network! Franklin Street, our Urban Smashdown Title Sponsor, entered in an unstoppable team, Team Domination. Gregory Matus and Ryan J. Ghegan sure did dominate as they emerged victorious, earning a trophy fit for champions! Pickle Juice Inc. (PJI) from Pro-Ject International Management & Engineering Consultants were in second place and PickleMoss Pros from Moss & Associates (Construction) finished in third place.
