Fundraising

Since 1948, the Jimmy Fund has solely supported Dana-Farber’s patient care and cancer research for children and adults.

About us

The Jimmy Fund supports Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. At Dana-Farber we are committed to an inclusive community where human differences are valued and celebrated, and where all are welcome. We work every day to create an innovative, caring, and inclusive environment where each patient, family, and staff member feels valued and respected. Only through this focus on inclusion of thought and human experience can we foster discovery and care for those we serve.

"My dad was my number one fan. He was my life coach who motivated me, inspired me to set goals, and drove me to be my best whether it was in academics, athletics, in the community, or at home. There is much I haven’t done yet, but I’m determined to continue to make him proud. My dad ran the Falmouth Road Race for 14 consecutive years before he got diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Last year’s Falmouth Road Race was the start of my journey following his legacy, and I am so happy to be continuing that again this year.” “Dana-Farber helped my dad fight day in and day out and their patient care resulted in more time to watch me and my siblings grow up. While his cancer was too severe to cure, the amazing doctors and nurses at Dana-Farber did their best to keep him as healthy and comfortable as they could. I am so grateful to them and to everyone who has supported my family and me these past six years.” - Tassia, a member of Dana-Farber's 2024 Falmouth Road Race team #FalmouthRoadRace2024 #RunFalmouth

Olivia, a patient in Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic, and her family enjoyed VIP treatment from new pal, Garrett Whitlock, during a special visit to Fenway Park! Olivia explored the dugout, took photos, and created unforgettable memories with fellow Dana-Farber patients. Thanks to your support, moments like this are made possible for patients like Olivia. Be sure to tune in to the WEEI Sports Radio Network/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon presented by Arbella Insurance Group on August 13-14 to help strike out cancer.

“I went to my OB/GYN because my husband and I were considering a third child. I wanted to be sure I was in the best health possible. When I was then told I had cervical cancer, it was a total shock. It was as if I was watching a movie screen and it wasn’t really happening to me,” shares Julie. Just a few short months later, Julie went in for a radical hysterectomy to remove her cancer and determine if further operations would be needed. What made the difference for Julie during those long post-op days was the exceptional care she received from everyone at Dana-Farber. “One week later, my hope became a reality when I was told that the cancer had not spread,” she recalls. When she found out that all margins in her follow-up PET scan were clear, Julie felt “as though she had won the life lottery." Read Julie’s story this #CancerSurvivorsMonth: https://lnkd.in/ev5qHm9P

The world is a better place when we come together, not only in our mission to defy cancer, but for a more just, inclusive, and welcoming future. As Pride Month comes to an end, we hold this message from Jonathan, a fellow member of our Jimmy Fund community, close to our hearts. Let’s make a better world—for everyone—together. #PrideMonth 🏳️🌈
