About us
TEDx is a TED program that enables volunteers to independently organize TED-like events in their local communities. Under a license granted by TED, thousands of organizers produce events and curate speakers to celebrate local ideas, shift perspectives, and ultimately change lives. Becoming a TEDx organizer is free, and we welcome anyone, from anywhere, to create their own TEDx experience. Research suggests that your gut feeling is pretty darn real. The tiny microbes that live in your gut can affect your mood, behavior, and even your personality, says biologist and journalist Kathleen McAuliffe. In her TEDxMarshallU talk, she explains how scientists are using the relationship between the gut and the brain to explore promising treatments for conditions like severe depression, epilepsy, and more. A thoughtfully curated, free exhibit is a surefire way to make your event’s ideas more accessible for a wider community. TEDxNapier Bridge in Chennai, India is using creativity to transform how their community engages with timely topics. This interactive exhibit that accompanied a Salon about the impacts of misinformation and AI wasn’t just informative — it was fun! By gamifying the experience and incorporating multimedia elements, the team (led by Shyam Sundar, Madhu Ramakrishnan and Shakeenaa Abdul Gafoor) made the complex ideas in the event’s talks more approachable and engaging. Check out the project microsite, which offers digital media literacy guides and channels to report misinformation: www.truthcon.in/ Plus, inspired by the TED Countdown event in Detroit, US, the team prioritized sustainability in the event design. They incorporated as many recyclable materials as possible, using cardboard to build not only the exhibit installations but also the artwork and furniture. Park day, anyone? 🌞 TEDxChengdu hosted a TEDxLive event at a local park, turning the watch party gathering in Chengdu, China into a field day for all ages. By showing different TED talks between the main outdoor theater and a youth viewing tent (where young viewers could play and move while watching), the team curated distinct experiences to meet their wide-ranging audiences’ needs. Additionally, interactive games on the lawn, a variety of shaded seating and eco-friendly boxed lunches kept attendees of all ages entertained until the sun set. Did you know active TEDx organizers can get a free license to host a TEDxLive event to share new TED Talks? The next opportunity is to host a watch party for TEDNext, this October.
