🚀 Exciting News for Startups in DACH! The newly founded "HSG START Accelerator" is set to boost both national and international startups by helping them professionalize their operations. Supported by University of St.Gallen, START Global, and Switzerland Innovation Park Ost, this foundation is poised to make a significant impact. The Kanton St.Gallen wants to establish itself as an attractive location for young entrepreneurs and therefore would like to support the foundation "HSG START Accelerator" with CHF 5.4 million. At the same time, CHF 4.6 million are planned to be made available to financially strengthen the existing "Foundation Startfeld". Neu gegründete Stiftung «HSG START Accelerator» fördert Startups in der Ostschweiz: https://lnkd.in/eepUycXn Die Stiftung «HSG START Accelerator» unterstützt mit einem speziellen Förderprogramm nationale und internationale #Startups bei der Professionalisierung ihrer Unternehmen. Gründungspartner sind die HSG, START Global und Switzerland Innovation Park Ost (SIP Ost). Heute haben die drei Stiftungsräte die Gründungsurkunde unterzeichnet. Ab sofort ist die im SIP Ost angesiedelte Stiftung für Unternehmer:innen im Einsatz. Der Kanton St.Gallen möchte sich als attraktiver Standort für Jungunternehmer:innen etablieren. Deshalb möchte die Regierung des Kantons St.Gallen den «HSG START Accelerator» mit 5.4 Millionen Franken unterstützen. Gleichzeitig sollen 4.6 Millionen Franken für die finanzielle Stärkung der bestehenden Stiftung «Startfeld» zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Der Stiftungsrat des Accelerator-Programms setzt sich zusammen aus drei in der Startup-Szene St.Gallen aktiven und engagierten Mitgliedern: HSG-Prof. Dr. Dietmar Grichnik (Präsidium), Dr. Cornelia Gut-Villa (Vize-Präsidium) und Andreas Goeldi (Mitglied des Stiftungsrats). Im Zuge globaler Krisen hat sich die allgemeine wirtschaftliche Situation verschlechtert. HSG Spin-Offs trotzen diesem Negativtrend: «Selbst in diesen herausfordernden wirtschaftlichen Zeiten zeigen die Startups und Spin-Offs der HSG überdurchschnittlich hohe Niveaus an Geschäftsoptimismus und Vertrauen in ihre positive Geschäftsentwicklung», sagt Dietmar Grichnik. Unter seiner Leitung werden die Spin-Offs der HSG einmal jährlich zu ihrer Situation und ihren Perspektiven befragt. Das aktuelle HSG Spin-Off Barometer legt einen Fokus auf das Thema #Resilienz. «Die Gründung eines Unternehmens ist grundsätzlich ein sehr unsicherer Prozess. Resilienz gegenüber krisenhaften Entwicklungen ist darum für Startups zentral, um erfolgreich zu sein», sagt Bernd F. Schneider. Dank einer soliden Finanzierung sowie inhaltlicher Qualität schaffen die insgesamt 145 HSG Spin-Offs Wertschöpfung für die Schweizer Wirtschaft: So haben 91,9% der jungen Unternehmen ihren Hauptsitz oder eine Zweigstelle in der Schweiz. Darüber hinaus planen 45,9 % der befragten Unternehmen in den nächsten zwölf Monaten eine Finanzierungsrunde. Bekannte HSG Spin-Offs sind beispielsweise Planted mit dem aktuellen HSG-Gründer des Jahres Pascal Bieri, Kaspar&, noriware, N26 Group, Yokoy, Decentriq OnlineDoctor Piavita. Das Spin-Off Label ist eine von diversen Initiativen, mit denen die HSG Unternehmertum unterstützt. Dazu gehören etwa Förderprogramme wie das «Entrepreneurial Talents Program» und kostenlose Coachingangebote von STARTUP@HSG. Zukünftig will die HSG ihre Aktivitäten in diesem Bereich weiter stärken – auch darum hat Anfang Jahr das neue Prorektorat «Innovation & Qualität» seine Arbeit aufgenommen.

Der neue Partner soll dem St.Galler Fintech-Unternehmen die Zusammenarbeit mit weiteren Banken erleichtern. «Für uns ist das ein grosser Sprung», sagt Mitgründer und CEO Jan-Philip Schade, PhD, der an der HSG promoviert hat. Nicht nur zeige das, dass Kaspar& auch von grossen Unternehmen beachtet werde. «Die Zusammenarbeit mit Avaloq macht es auch einfacher, mit anderen Banken zu kooperieren.» Die App von Kaspar& erlaubt es, beim Einkauf mit der Bezahlkarte den Betrag aufzurunden. Das digitale Kleingeld wird dann in Fonds oder ETF investiert. So können die Nutzer sehr einfach und mit sehr kleinen Beträgen anlegen und auf Ziele hin sparen. After starting his career in business development at Brenner Schweiz, he co-founded Avrios, an SaaS platform for tailored transportation - Avrios was a HSG Spin-off, winner of Venture Kick, and laureate of the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award for three consecutive years. After several funding rounds attracting more than CHF 20 million in investments, Avrios was sold to Battery Ventures in 2023. Andreas is an active investor in many startup companies and now the CEO of his next startup Jua.ai, providing AI for weather-dependent energy trading. Matthias Heller studied Business, Economics, and Computer Science at the University of St. Gallen, Harvard, and HEC Paris. After internships in venture capital and starting his career at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), he co-founded the HSG spin-off Lightly - a data curation platform for machine learning. The company has since won Venture Kick, got selected for Y Combinator and ESA BIC Switzerland, and raised more than CHF 3 million in funding.
